I'm not here to put words on McCoy's keyboard, but I do have an observation. I've noticed that whenever white people declare that there's no "race problem where I live," it just means 1) whites far outnumber non-whites, and/or 2) non-whites have learned to shut up and play nice, or else.
My oldest son is white like I am. My daughter-in-law is a woman of color. They currently live in Louisiana and have two kids. My g-kids are now 17 and 10. When we have visited them I have caught hateful looks directed at all of us by a few white people, particularly at the children. This has happened 3x while out in public. My son and the kids haven't said anything to me about racism in their lives, but it's apparent that it exists. My grandchildren are beautiful beings, inside and out. It makes me both sad and furious to think that they may face discrimination and racism as they journey through life.
