Because we are defending our culture and want to keep it.

You make the same mistake your pals make. No one is "prohibiting" anyone from anything. No one is prohibiting you from being the QB for the NY Giants. Why aren't you playing for the Giants next Sunday?

Please tell us how allowing gays to marry will effect your culture??? What the fuck difference will it make?

We believe marriage is sacred and too serious to be used by perverts as propaganda to make their lifestyle more acceptable.

We need to maintain a healthy society in which to raise our children and their children. We're better than that.

Great, so treat YOUR marriage as if it were sacred. Allowing gays to marry will not effect YOUR marriage or anyone else's marriage at all.

And considering that close to half of marriages end in divorce and 1 in 4 has some sort of abuse involved in it, you need to work on some more serious threats to this "sacred institution" besides gay marriage.

And we are not talking about churches being forced to marry people. We are talking about teh gov't recognizing the marriage and giving them the benefits that are bestowed on every pregnant redneck or drunk couple in Vega who walks into the office of the Justice of the Peace, pays a fee and takes the vows.

Their lifestyles exist and will continue to exist no matter how much you dislike them. There will not be more gay people because they can marry. There will not be more gay sex because you allow them to marry. (hell, like most marriages there will probably be less)

In other words, it will still not effect you one iota. If you want to make marriage sacred, pass a law that makes divorce illegal.

There are plenty of things that are a real "threat" to our culture that these people could be spending time trying to prevent.

Are you trying to outlaw "publicity" marriages like those of Brittney Spears or That Kardashian girl? What about the divorce rate or marriages that are clearly for money?

Divorce, child abuse, unwanted pregnancy, teen pregnancy, sexual discrimination, racial discrimination, murder, rape, bigamy, trash television, bullying in schools, suicide, drugs (legal and illegal), poor education, poverty, hate, and many many more...

Why is the energy being focused on a couple gay people, deeply in love, who want the protection marriage avails to heterosexual couples.

Marriage is what is sacred, the institution. We don't want the queers perverting our sacred institutions with their filthy disgusting ways.

Those abusing there wives are not perverting the institution?
Drunks getting married on a whim in Vegas are not perverting your sacred institution?
Gold diggers getting married for money to men 50 years older than them are not preverting your sacred institution?

All of these things are happening, yet you focus on couples who are truely in love who want to sanctify there relationship?

So the institution of marriage is fine now, and the gay couple down the street has been living together for 5 years.

But if they get married, it will somehow effect the rest of the marriages? Can you see how ridiculous that is??

And no, the "institution" is not sacred. It has been abused, disgarded, and used to commit crimes against women for centuries. If it was sacred people would not be getting divorced in droves. They would not be abusing their spouses, mentally and physically. They would not be cheating on their spouses. The idea of marriage may be sacred to some people.

But for you to deny equal rights to a portion of the population in order to protect some vague idea of what marriage should be is simply bullshit.

Marriage will be just as sacred regardless of whether the people marrying are gay or straight.

And if the institution of marriage is so sacred, get the gov't out of it completely. Remove all the gov't benefits from the sacred institution and make it only about the relationship.

Well said, marriage is only as sacred as those who are involved in an individual marriage.

So how about that? How about we remove all of the government benefits from marriage, remove the gov't licencing, and take back marriage as a personal and sacred institution??

What do you say, Alias & dixon???

I like it okay, except I belvie there should be a way of obtaining protections between couples who agree to bind themselves together. Legal protections like the right to own property as Tennants in Common and like the right of inhertance. Then there need to be protections for parents relating to the care and raising of children. All of this could be done without marriage, but it would be more difficult and unintelegent people would have a very hard time setting it up.

According to Alias and dixon, the benefits of marriage can be gained by contracts and will, ect. That should suffice for all the needs of couples. That way we can get marriage back to being a sacred institution.

I agree that inelegent educated people could accomplish the same thing as legal marriage. I worry however that unintelegent and uneducated people might not be protected and they are the ones who need it the most.

The benefits of marriage are shared by a man and a women when they become "One Flesh". There nothing else that can be called "Marriage". It's just two people of the same sex hanging together and having perverted sex.

Homosexuality is a lie. Therefore, everything that goes with that lie is a lie.

What? "Homosexuality is a lie."

Homosexuality is a noun, not a lie. It exists.
