Okay, it depends on if he was found to be justified in using force. In Florida, if you are found justified in using deadly force you are protected against civil lawsuits in the same action.

I think he was found justified in using force, he admitted to killing TM, so how else was he found to be not guilty. I think Collateral Estoppel applies here, but there might be some way around that, a creative argument.

He did not seek immunity in a stand your ground defense, so how can this be used to deny a wrongful death suit?
