The media, trying to avoid talking about Hillary's scandals, simply stopped covering her, well seriously slowed down the coverage, near the end. You can see it on the chart above that christiefan posted. The media started to focus solely on Trump when Hillary's mess really should have been hitting the news at least as much. Instead media outlets worked to get out the women from Hillary's campaign trying to make Trump appear like a lecherous p*ssy grabbing sexual predator, ignoring that the litigious society we have today would have had him in court almost constantly as a billionaire with roaming hands. We were regaled, often by direct Hillary employees, with stories of Trump kissing people in public (somehow witness free) and fake stories about how it was okay when he was feeling boobs but not okay when he reached down lower on First Class seats with unmovable arms he was lifting magically...
The stories became consistently less believable with each utterance, they failed (except the true believers like Desh) to paint Trump as a sexual-predation machine constantly grabbing women's p*ssies... at the same time the minimal coverage with MSDNC trying to explain how it was bad that people were giving out information that would normally remain private rather than actually talking about the information. Shooting the messenger, so to speak, without regard to what information people were actually learning.
