Nope, once a Mental Health Professional diagnoses some has having a major mental illness that means they could be a danger to themselves or others that should be brought before a judge and the person gets their day in court. If the diagnoses is found to be true then they need to be separated from firearms until such a date that they can prove that they are no longer a danger to themselves or others.

A major problem is restoration of rights. It's easy enough for a Nanny State to just start sending people to "reeducation camps" in an American version of Gulags or "for their own safety" as FDR did with the Japanese internment camps like Manzanar. Getting people back out under a lawful, Constitutional nation must also be clear to all before the first person is sent to one of these facilities.
