That canard has been debunked many times over.
"The findings in this research are based on faulty methodology and the death risk is significantly overstated," National Center for Policy Analysis president John C. Goodman has explained. "The subjects were interviewed only once and the study tries to link their insurance status at that time to mortality a decade later. Yet over the period, the authors have no idea whether subjects were insured or uninsured, what kind of medical care they received, or even cause of death."
Researchers of the Harvard based their conclusion upon national surveys participants filled from 1986-1994. After checking how many of the adults died by the year 2000, researchers proceeded to make the unbelievable leap in assumption and faith that the uninsured stayed uninsured for all those years - and died as a result.
"Like unemployment, uninsurance happens to many people for short periods of time. Most people who are uninsured regain insurance with one year," Goodman wrote. "The authors of the study did not track what happened to the insurance status of the subjects over the decade examined, what medical care they received or even the causes of their deaths."

LOL! I'm from Canada. Can you show us the numbers of those who have died waiting for a stint procedure?lol Its all propoganda spread by those who are eating at the pig troughs of the privatized American health care system.
Listen. The American health care system is broken. EVERYONE knows it. Obama came up with a plan. The republicans have ZERO plan. Americans on average pay much more for mediocre care. Those are the facts. Though the problem now is this. With outsourcing, more and more Americans are being left without jobs and thus health insurance. It has become a big burden to the tax payer(those still working). Because they are the ones footing the bill now.
To offset, Obama sets up a new insurance plan that makes people pay a little more in premium with ALOT more coverage. I think this is a great idea and one step closer to Universal health care in America which is the most humane system, regardless of the propoganda you hear from greedy capitalists in the health care industry.
Therefore your paying more in coverage but less burden to the deficit, which you ALSO pay for. The only thing I do not like ius that it leaves too much power in the hands of private insurance companies. Whats to stop them from increasing rates, once everyone is on board??
I prefer a government run insurance company that is accountable to the people. Trust me when I will tell you it would be cheaper because there would be less pigs(Private capitalists) eating at the pig troughs.
The next step would be to reduce cost of healthcare in America like Canada did. American health care is WAYYYYY over priced. I've seen articles. I will look for it, that states that things that are worth $5 are marked up to $200-$400 dollars!!! Not too many people complain because it is covered by health care insurance but this is a ridiculous markup!!!!

Well if you got money or even better an insurance plan subsidized by the people, then ya! America's got more machinery. Though to the average folk? The American health care system sucks. You see more average Americans coming here to Canada for health care then Canadians going to America. That is for sure!!!
I hear now many Canadian(and American) heads of state(and wealthy people) are now opting to go to Universe health care type health care institutes in the east at a fraction of the cost!
America has a superior system with response time and cancer survival rates that cannot be beat.
If Canadian care was so great, your Prime Ministers wouldn't be coming to America for treatment. They come here for one reason -- it is the best.
I met someone from Montreal who said they cannot even find a primary care physician and wait months for simple tests. Anecdotal this may be, but I have ran across this frequently and it solidifies my opinion.

Of course it's the best treatment in the world... if you have the money to pay for it. Hospital costs are thru the roof and even with insurance it's hard to not go bankrupt when someone in your family has a serious illness.

Yes I will acknowledge that there are SOME doctor shortages in some areas, thanks to American capitalist greed luring many Canadian doctors to the USA. Though there are PLENTY of walk in clinics for people still waiting for a family doctor. I personally have 3 family doctors and I have NO PROBLEMS getting medical attention.
Now do you want me to tell you about the average Americans who pray to GOD every night that none of their family members ever get sick because it would financially ruin them?
