I agree, but with 27 million, they can afford to make Chauvin's life miserable!
Yes, but that goes back to my original point which was that they'd end up making themselves look like assholes.
And why the vindictiveness out of so many not even directly affected by any of this?
Floyd was no hero. He was no Emmet Till.
He was a drug abusing, ex-con street thug felon, who once forced his way into a young woman's home, held her at gunpoint, robbed her and stood by while one of his accomplices beat her up.
But because he was black, his death is being treated like a national tragedy.
What's next... are they going to declare the date of his death a national holiday?
Chauvin is being made out to look like Charles Manson, when in reality, he for the most part, was just guilty of using poor judgement and exhibiting a lack of care and compassion.
The idea that he is this vicious, cold-hearted murderer of some saintly civil rights icon is just a concocted load of bullshit that too many people have swallowed hook, line and sinker.
I think he deserves to be convicted of the 2nd degree manslaughter charge, get sentenced to about 3½ years minus time served, then a year or two on supervised parole.
Then he should be left alone to try to rebuild something out of what's left of his life.
If the Floyd family wants to help drive an even bigger wedge between whites and blacks, then let them go ahead and try to make Chauvin's life miserable by pursuing some pointless lawsuit that he'd never even be forced to pay back because the courts cannot force him to pay what he does not have.
Meanwhile, moderate and conservative whites will be shaking their heads and muttering -
"Typical......"
