Why not? It's not like he has to leave the compound and stand in line at the drugstore for his Viagra, Propecia and spray-on tanning products. He'd never have to leave the compound ever again.

Trump agreed in writing years ago to change the use of the Mar-a-Lago property from a single-family residence to a private club owned by a corporation he controls.

Trump's a liar, so I doubt that promise to not live there is worth more than any other Trump promise. As long as Trump has free run of the compound and his "private quarters", he'll be happy.

The only problem is his very rich neighbors don’t care for him and they have the money to fight him! Unlike the poor small businesses he usually bullies.

LOL. Good point. OTOH, he's thrown millions of dollars worth of lawyers at a lot of people, so he might look at it like many retired Floridians look at pinochle or shuffleboard. Just a game.
