A gunman in Kansas opened fire at multiple locations, including his workplace, killing up to four people and injuring 20 others on Thursday before he was shot and killed by authorities, police said.

The gunman, who was not identified, killed “as many as three or four” and injured “possibly up to 20 people” in a series of shootings, Harvey County Sheriff T. Walton said at a news conference Thursday afternoon, a little more than two hours after the police were first alerted to gunshots.

He later told KAKE, the ABC affiliate in Wichita, that as many as seven people may have been killed.

“There are a lot of shot victims,” Walton said. “This is just a horrible incident that happened here.”

The rampage ended at Excel Industries, a company that says on its website that it manufactures lawn-mowing equipment. While Walton said the gunman worked at the Excel plant in Hesston, a city about 35 miles north of Wichita.

Walton said he did not know how long the gunman had worked at Excel or if he had recently been fired.

Who was the manufacturer of his weapons ? It's a question that's going to be asked a lot more in future.

Keep dreaming. You have no idea of the idiocy you are opening by holding them responsible.

Why would that matter at all?

Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, 2005 passed 283 in favor and 144 opposed.

New legislation is required and planned, apparently. Naming the manufacturers of weapons used to slaughter Americans will assist .

So who manufactured the weapon in this instance ? Is it a secret ? Would you like it to be ?

The more Americans that are slaughtered by guns the more that frightened Americans will want to own them for protection. So somebody is profiting from dead Americans. Who is it ? Simple enough question.

Sheriff Walton also confirmed Ford acted alone, using a pistol and "assault style" weapon.

That's not good enough. What were the weapons and who made them ?

Was it a Century Arms Model 39 (7.62×39mm), InterOrdnance AKM247, M214, Palmetto State Armory PSAK-47 ?

Whoever made it- assuming it was made in the US- was its manufacture properly licenced ?

Kalashnikov Concern (formerly Izhmash) has repeatedly claimed that the majority of foreign manufacturers are producing AK type rifles without proper licensing

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AK-47

And if it wasn't would the unlicenced manufacturer still be protected by the Lawful Commerce in Arms Act if its manufacture was unlawful ?

The law defines "manufacturer" as follows:

"The term “manufacturer” means, with respect to a qualified product, a person who is engaged in the business of manufacturing the product in interstate or foreign commerce and who is licensed to engage in business as such a manufacturer under chapter 44 of title 18."

I take that to mean that the product of an unlicensed manufacturer would not be considered "qualified" to enjoy the protections of the Lawful Commerce in Arms Act.

Perhaps you've missed the gist- although I agree with the point you've made. In this instance let's suppose that the AK used was in fact a Century Arms Model 39 (7.62×39mm), InterOrdnance AKM247, M214, Palmetto State Armory PSAK-47 , produced by a licenced manufacturer, granted , but produced without appropriate licence by the gun patent-holder- a knock-off by any other name. Are patent offenders given protection under the LCAA.

Those are all long established U.S. manufacturing companies. Google would tell you that in 15 seconds.

There is no patent violation.

That information already came via a web search. Why else do you think I'm asking ? Each is listed as an American manufacturer of AK-type weapons.
There is no patent violation.

So you already know the nature of the weapon and its manufacturer . So tell everybody else.

Doesn't matter...they're not responsible.

Of course it matters. The manufacturer knowingly produced a specifically deadly weapon and made it available to him. The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act is appalling legislation.

Where is Zappa ranting 'gun nut, gun nut'.....oh wait,....the shooter was black, do he'll keep his racist trap shut on this one.....
