Watching the birthers/oathers/neocons/teabaggers/libertarians and similar intellectually dishonest and cowardly off-shoots of "conservatism" whirl like dervishes to deal with Obama's touche move is hysterical. Just a few points:

- Yeah, we know that Hillary wonk Berg started this shit....but AFTER Obama won the election, it should have been over...especially after the higher courts kicked his dopey ass to the curb. Instead, the neocon driven GOP and it's punditry picked up the gauntlet and ran crazy with it. DESPITE producing a STATE APPROVED short form, the "birthers" were NOT satisfied (forget the vast majority of the birther bumpkins carry ONLY an OFFICIAL COPY of their birth cerificate...which makes them absurd hypocrits), and kept up the silliness for 2 years! Yep, the Dept. of Motor Vehicles in two states, the State Dept., the FBI, the Secret Service, The State of Hawaii and two Hawaiian newspapers 50 years ago weren't good enough for the birther bumpkins.

- the birthers/oathers/neocons/teabaggers/libertarians and similar intellectually dishonest and cowardly off-shoots of "conservatism" seem not to care that their lord the Shrub's family has a history of being in bed with the Saudis (home of Bin Ladin and the majority of the 9/1 terrorists), and his grand pappy had NO problem doing business with the Nazis....yet their suspicion of Obama goes beyond rationality to obsession.

- the birthers/oathers/neocons/teabaggers/libertarians and similar intellectually dishonest and cowardly off-shoots of "conservatism" have an amazing quality to blame others for their faults while NEVER admitting error. For the last 2 years, proof beyond doubt that Obama was born in Hawaii has been presented....which they just rejected. But the sheer absurdity of the birthers was beginning to tell on the GOP....as Boehner copped that if the President and Hawaii says he's a citizen, it was good enough for him....and even wingnut Ann Coulter stated that the issue was dead and people should "move on". Enter party switching ego-maniac and jumped up slumlord Donald Trump, who blasts the media with this nonsense, making all types of outrageous claims....and showing (again) to the world just how stupid the birthers are.

- Obama makes a masterful chess move.....calling out the alleged MSM, Dems, GOP and "carnival barkers" for this birther bullshit when REAL problems are on the table (budget proposals)....and although he didn't have to, gets the State of Hawaii to release his long form. Case closed....but the birthers/oathers/neocons/teabaggers/libertarians and similar intellectually dishones and cowardly off-shoots of "conservatism" just can't admit they were wrong....so now it's Obama's fault for "dragging this out", and using this as a political ploy! Once again, the birthers take leave of reality.

- Next up for the birthers/oathers/neocons/teabaggers/libertarians and similar intellectually dishonest and cowardly off-shoots of "conservatism"....Obama's academic records from grade school on up, is he still smoking weed, and why won't he call himself "half black".

Maybe, but it also might hurt the Republicans creditability because the first salvo of this campaign was such a rediclous issue pushed by the Republicans. If President Obama can tie this to the Republicans party in general as opposed to Trump it will boost his creditability when calling out silly arguments and conspiracy theories.

Not much, which makes the holdout all the more inexplicable, IMO. Of course you haven't read other posts of mine and will pretend that I haven't already stated that on that one thing I was wrong, but it does beg the question as to why spend so much time and energy suppressing it in court when it was pretty darned innocuous. It doesn't bode well for the reputation of "transparency" for the promised "most transparent administration in history."

As I said before, yeah I based that assumption on the action, paying lawyers for years to fight this, even allowing at least one soldier to go to prison. It pointed to an actual reason that could be explained for the withholding of the information. But instead we got this.

I also think that the President should have sent a press secretary out rather than try to lecture people about doing important things for the nation just before hitting Oprah, then attending fund raising dinners.

History shows that the general population remembers what has been jammed into their heads by the media...and Fox, Clear Channel, the Washington Times, and God knows how many Koch Bros. funded right wing think tanks and blogs have bullhorned the birther BS. Unfortunately for the GOP, people also remember glorious FAILURES and OUTED PHONIES. Like it or not, the GOP is NOT going to spin it's way out of this one.

If that were true he would have produced that long before Corsi came on the scene. We must assume he is rational, the only seemingly rational reason was an attempt at political rope-a-dope. The release now was also rational, but I realize that had he been able to hold that Trump card until just before the election it would have caused much more harm to his opponent if the issue was one that his opponent was actually pressing.

I think it is likely somebody at NBC "leaked" that Trump had signed a contract for the next season thus pretty much guaranteeing he wasn't going to actually run, he had to use it now or it would lose effectiveness. There was only one candidate even talking about it, and he was one that most rational people said was never going to be the nominee.
