Bill Nye, 'Science Guy,' condemns creationist influence in classrooms

Can we divide one into three equal parts or can we not divide 1 by 3 and come up with 3 equal parts?
.

yes and yes..... mom can divide a cake into three equal parts.....so equal that even the pickiest child will not complain his brother's got more.....but, if you type 1 divided by 3 into a calculator you will never get rid of the tiny remainder, even if your calculator can display a million decimals......

I ask again, isn't that true?.......remember, this is your fourth chance to answer that specific question (and note that I continue to answer yours every time you repeat it)....

If your calculator can switch to base 12 will there be a "remainder?"

I have answered your question multiple times. I stated throughout everyone of the discussions of this topic that the problem you and dumbass ditzy are having is merely an artifact of the decimal system. 1 can be divided into 3 equal parts. It can be represented as 1/3 or .3 repeating. The notation has nothing at all to do with the inherent nature of dividing a unit into three equal parts we can do it just as easily as we divide a unit into 2 equal parts or 4. You two morons can't get your head around the fact that our standardization on base 10 is arbitrary.

lol...it may be arbitrary, but it is the arbitrary system we use.....and under the system we use the statement that if you divide 1 by 3 there is a remainder is an undeniably true statement.....you can hide from that truth by denying the system we have arbitrarily chosen, but it makes you look foolish.....

now, last chance....under the system that we do in fact use on a daily basis, is it a true statement that if you divide 1 by 3 there is a remainder?.....

you can either admit that and look as moronic as Dixie and myself......or you can deny it and look worse.....

Our arbitrary choice of base 10 does not change the fact that 1 can be divided into 3 equal parts. The product simply cannot be represented in base 10 as anything other than .3 repeating or 1/3.

You sealed your foolishness with your idiotic claim that an object such as a cake cannot be divided into three equal parts due to base 10. It's the same level of stupid ditzy would end up at and then disavow he ever went there.

Can we divide one into three equal parts or can we not divide 1 by 3 and come up with 3 equal parts? Yes and yes is not an acceptable answer as only one can be true.

There are 10 kinds of people in the world -- those who understand binary numbers and those who don't.

silly child, did I not say, less than an hour ago that a cake could be divided into three equal parts?......

You did not.

you can divide a cake into three equal parts.....but if you weigh them on a scale accurate to a millionth part, you will find they are not in truth, equal.....

This is wrong. It does not matter that your first sentence is correct because you finish the thought by contradicting it. The closing statement clearly overrides the first sentence due to your use of "in truth." That is, you believe the last statement is the reality of the situation.

You are just a moron that is easily confused. It's hard to believe you are not ditzy. You two hold all of the same stupid ideas.

no, I think it was one month ago...but Baxter keeps starting threads bringing the same stuff up over and over... what can I say.....

Liberals are like small children.
When they ask for something and are told no, most of them tend to just keep asking over and over.
They actually hope that they can get someone to either change their mind, or else forget that they said no.

You are exactly right about the math.

And the only reason we use the decimal system is because we have ten fingers.

There's nothing inherently virtuous about the decimal system ... in fact, it can be downright clumsy.

With respect to computing, the decimal system isn't just arbitrary -- it is an impediment.

I personally prefer giving my age in hexadecimal....

Also, then multiply by 3. What happens?

depends on how many decimals the calculator is set to display......I expect most would say 1......but, on the other hand.....if I type in 1 / 3 I get .33333333333333333.....and if I type in .33333333333333333 * 3 I get .999999999999999..........
