Bill Maher on all religions being equal - "That's Liberal Bullshit"

While I don't think that terrorism should be condoned, rationalized or excused, I think that it goes deeper than the religion alone.

I think that culture plays a huge role, I think that socioeconomics and the education levels of the majority of their citizenry plays a huge role, and I think that the leaders of these fundamentalist radical groups are more concerned with power and control than they are with religious teachings. I think they are very good at propaganda and getting people to believe that they are doing God's work.

But that really takes a backseat when innocents are hurt or killed.

No fault divorce, porn, abortion, gambling, gay "marriage," free condoms in schools, and you say we are about to develop a Christian Theocracy?
What the jerkoff is really trying to say, is that even the smallest representation of Christianity is a massive threat and that it's really best to just wipe it out completely.

I wonder if this will blow up into a controversy.

Notice the professor finally admitting Bill is right at ~4:10

Feel like I have had this same exact debate with a few select mouthbreathers on here.

Anyway, enjoy :)

I don't see the professor ever agreeing with him.

I dislike Maher's rants on this, and he goes on a lot of them. I had actually stopped watching him for a while after one of his more disgusting anti-muslim rants.

I also dislike listening to liberals on this subject. I've never known any subject that had me more conflicted. I basically hate everyone on this. I think liberals way over-simplify this, but I think righties do too.

I actually made a comment on a news site underneath a story about pictures that were supposed to be "feel-good". One of them was of two women wearing burqas in afghanistan holding up a sign expressing condolences to the people of Boston. I don't know how the eff a picture of two women wearing burqas is supposed to make me "feel good". Of course, I was viciously attacked by liberals for my comment. At the same time I repel from the hate expressed by people such as Brent, and of course, many other righties, some of them public figures. I don't fit in anywhere on this topic, and agree with almost no one.

hate usually harms the hater the most, except when they act upon it to do harm to others

it is not Islam that i dislike more than some other religions, just the way it is practiced by some...just like other religions

personally, i prefer my religion (Gaea of the universes), no rituals, priests, contributions solicited or desired, recruiting or knocking on doors or proselytizing

I'll address you and NOVA in this post.

All those things you mentioned are being fought hard by Christian Conservatives.... except for perhaps divorce... at least not as strongly as the rest.

I agree. The purpose of a religion is to find inner peace and enlightenment. Even the word Jihad is bastardized by the extremists. From what I've been told from a friend who is a practicing Muslim, jihad is the personal struggle between the flesh and the spirit, the material and the divine....so in effect, it is a "Holy War", but a personal one that everyone fights in their minds.
