I'll have a much better regard for the "American Heartland" when they're a different country.
We'll get along fine as neighbors and trade partners who don't write each other's laws and tax codes.

I don't understand why this isn't obvious to everybody.
Why does Oklahoma, for example, want to be in the same country as Massachusetts, New York, and California?
Paying for house calls (anybody old enough to remember them?) with chickens is preferable to Medicare for All in their eyes.
Let them do it.
Is it that hard to need a passport to watch a Broadway play or a boxing match in LA?

I think we should just stop sending federal money to states that take more than they contribute. Like Oklahoma.

There are no moderate solutions to radical problems...which should be obvious.

We get along great with Germany and Japan--at least here in the blue states.

But we don't try to write one another's laws and tax codes. That's the key.
The 50-state American model is a proven failure; that model will never allow unity, no matter what the Pollyanna rhetoric.
See, I think the fixes are very simple:
Admit DC and PR as states
Abolish the Electoral College
Guarantee health care as a right
Automatically register every single American to vote
Tax the rich
If we do those five things, the country will be more united and a Conservative will never win a national election ever again.

We do it by first winning the two seats down here in Georgia in order to make the structural changes to our democracy for the 21st century.
We can't do anything as long as McConnell still has power.
What Conservatives fear most isn't a liberal government...it's losing their voice and status in the debate.
The best way to do that is to abolish and destroy all the structural problems with our democracy; the Electoral College, overrepresentation of losers in the Senate, and an end to the disenfranchisement of DC and Puerto Rico.
Conservatives do not have popular support in this country. They are only still a factor in politics because we let them be one. If you take away their power, you take away their ability to make things worse.
But it all starts down here in January 5th. That's the next big test of our democracy. Hopefully, we can pull out a sweep and get the 50 seats in the Senate necessary to admit DC and Puerto Rico, giving us 54 seats in a 104-vote chamber.

January 5th is crucial for sure.
Huge difference between Miss Veep Kamala and the diseased turtle holding senate power.
But after DC and PR get through congress, they need ratification by 2/3rds of the current states.
If you've got a plan for that, you're well ahead of me on this issue.
But if you are, great.

The last one that wasn't catastrophic was the Eisenhower interstate highway system when I was in grade school.
