Beware Trump's Impending War in Syria

Illegals can't get welfare or food stamps. They can get emergency medical care and schooling only. Plus, they pay billions in state and local taxes, and also payroll taxes for benefits they'll never be able to get.
Their children are automatically US citizens and therefore entitled to benefits. The argument that they pay taxes is also used in the UK but neglects to include the extra costs incurred for social, educational, medical and general infrastructure such as water, sewage, roads and transport.

Much as some may like to portray otherwise, there are fair number that criminals and they cause even more misery and mayhem.

I'm fairly certain he did not say that. What I recall is he said he would make money off being President, but then he gives up his salary. I'm not even sure why he made such a comment.

I remember now. It wasn't war, it was boasting about making money off Brexit.

"As the British pound plummeted to a 30-year low following Britons’ decision to leave the European Union, Donald Trump made clear that the economic turmoil was good for at least one person: Donald Trump. Trump arrived in Turnberry, Scotland on Friday to officially open his golf resort there and quickly embarrassed himself by tweeting that Scots were “going wild” over Britain’s decision to leave the EU. The majority of Scotland had voted to remain.

Asked about the uncertainty of the pound, Trump responded by pointing out how he stood to benefit from a weaker currency. It’s not the first time Trump has boasted about profiting off a weak economy.

“If the pound goes down, more people are coming to Turnberry, frankly,” he said at a press conference. “For traveling and for other things, I think it very well could turn out to be positive.”

Spoken like a true statesman."

The only way they're citizens is if they're born here. In which case they'd be legal, their parents would not.

The taxes they pay do go for infrastructure...http://www.infrastructureusa.org/who-pays-for-roads/ We have gas taxes, sales taxes and other general taxes. The state and local taxes go toward education; payroll taxes help fund Medicare.

I am not making an argument that people should be allowed to come here illegally. I'm correcting some misconceptions that they don't contribute anything to the economy when the reverse is true.

"Regardless of the politically contentious nature of immigration reform, the data show undocumented immigrants greatly contribute to our nation's economy, not just in labor but also with tax dollars," Meg Wiehe, the institute's state tax policy director, said in a statement last week."

I also agree that some illegals are criminals but some legal immigrants are criminals also, not to mention a shitload of native-born Americans.

You are missing my point, as in the UK the taxes on mainly low paid workers are not enough to pay for all the extra infrastructure costs.

This was your quote that started the discussion. So even though he gets far wealthier from his real estate holdings you're arguing that the small percentage of his wealth tied up in stocks will trump that (no pun intended).

So my comment wasn't that he would start a war, but that he and his cronies would be further enriched by a war.

You keep bringing up his real estate holdings v. his stocks or other money-making ideas, like the non-real estate businesses don't matter. I say it all matters to him, whether big or small.

This is the guy who had created a $149 Christmas ornament and sold it on his website. Nothing is too small for him to squeeze money out of. (Yes, I know that sentence ended in a preposition. :) )

I don't disagree that all money is important to him but he stands to lose a lot more from war vis a vis his real estate than gaining from stocks is what I'm saying. I believe even he recognizes that.
