Baltimore Removes All 4 Of Its Confederate Statues Overnight

yes I understand it is fucked up

there are good cops

the system needs to be routed out and retrained

redo completely the way they are trained

Read up on the cities who have done so

Good kops do not stand in silence.

If they were good, they would speak out about the lies being told on Black neighborhoods, for starters.

In 2012, crime was so bad and money so tight in Camden, New Jersey, that city officials decided to take dramatic steps to scrap its 141-year-old unionized police department and replace it with a county-based force, one that focused more on putting cops on the street and building better relations with the residents they serve.
President Obama on Monday hailed the nascent Camden County Police Department as a national success story, a model for other departments to emulate as cities across the country continue to grapple with increasingly stormy relations between cops and the minority neighborhoods they police.

“Just a few years ago, this city was written off as dangerous beyond redemption, a city trapped in a downward spiral,” the president said at a community center in Camden. “Parents were afraid to let their children play outside, drug dealers operated in broad daylight, there weren’t enough cops to patrol the streets, so two years ago the police department was overhauled to implement a new model of community policing.”
The community policing idea has been around for decades, but in the aftermath of police shootings and the deaths of black men in police custody in cities across the U.S.—many of them captured on video—political leaders and police officials are beginning to refocus attention on such methods as they attempt to reestablish trust in their communities.

Sorry evince, we will agree to disagree.

Why do police have to be trained to treat Blacks with respect?

Community policing wants us to 'trust" the police.

We need to start by being truthful if we ever want to deal with racism.

The city council voted unanimously to rid the city of the monuments.

All four of Baltimore’s Confederate statues were removed overnight, just days after a white nationalist rally erupted into chaos and violence in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The Baltimore City Council voted unanimously Monday night to immediately take down the monuments. City crews began the removal process at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and finished around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to The Baltimore Sun.*Hours earlier,*President Donald Trump had defended the white nationalist demonstrators who gathered in Virginia over the weekend.

Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh said the city moved “as quickly as we could” to get rid of the monuments.

“It’s done,” Pugh told the Sun. “They needed to come down. My concern is for the safety and security of our people.”

Several cities are now reportedly*considering removing their own Confederate monuments following Saturday’s deadly clashes in Charlottesville, including Memphis, Tennessee; Lexington, Kentucky; Jacksonville, Florida; and Washington, D.C.

The Hollywood Forever Cemetery, one of the oldest cemeteries in Los Angeles, announced Tuesday that it plans to remove a monument honoring Confederate veterans.

This war is necessary and critical for the future of this nation.

Did those cowards spit and stomp on it like the tough guys in Durham NC that beat up on an inanimate object? Not hard to see why the vote was what it was. You had 9 automatic votes that didn't take into consideration a damn thing and voted like you'd expect them to automatically vote.

It only takes 3 % fool.
You think I am the only progun liberal?
Idiot. Of all the Libs I know only a few women don't own guns.
There are still enough rural or rurally raised Liberals in the unenrolled militia to defend the country from its enemies, foreign and domestic.
As it was meant to be, still is and will remain.
Of that you can rest assured.
