At Least 1 Dead in Shooting at Texas Church

the 'right' is to keep and bear ARMS.......whether its a sword or a gun is irrelevant. and your 'prefatory' clause gives the reason WHY we have the right, not a requirement to have the right. Also, NOWHERE in the founders debates will you find any mention that ONLY government regulated and controlled bodies of people are allowed guns.

Incorrect, when you were a kid and your father told you you would have an allowance if you completed assigned household tasks did you think that you were automatically going to receive that allowance regardless of what you did?

As I said, the prefatory clause cites the purpose of the following operative clause, it common sense

Lets get real, how many times have you been attacked by someone with a gun? You have a better chance getting hit by lightning, does that mean we should all stay indoors preparing for the worse?
i've had a gun in my face a couple of times. I've also actually used my gun to protect a few other people at various times. Along the same lines of having a fire extinguisher in your home or car..you may never use it, but it's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

New York, with one of the biggest urban population in the US, has one of the lowest murder rates by guns in the country, think there might be a relationship
what about rape, robbery, assault????????????

false equivalence. you know this. why you even tried this crap is beyond me.

then find the convention debate minutes or commentaries where that is stated and declared. we'll wait.

A gun equated to a fire extinguisher, beautiful

And living in your gated community most likely down South somewhere the only time you "had a gun in your face" was watching a TV cops and robbers show in HD

they are both tools, right????? and didn't you just compare the right to bear arms to 'allowance'??????

assumption is the mother of all fuckups..........whatever gave you the idea that I live in some wealthy gated community? i'm very interested in hearing where you got that notion.

How is it false, simple example but the same principle, one is dependent on the other, common sense

And I don't have to find anything, it is all there, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed," until you can define what the Founders meant by "well regulated Militia," which no Supreme Court has been able to do, the operative clause has no purpose

Because that is where the majority of Trumpkins on this forum live, and anyone who suddenly comes out and declares in an exchange on guns that they have had guns stuck in their face is most likely inflating experience

not even close. where do you have a right to an allowance?

And I don't have to find anything, it is all there, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed," until you can define what the Founders meant by "well regulated Militia," which no Supreme Court has been able to do, the operative clause has no purpose

there have been DOZENS of founders comments and commentaries that explain very clearly what the well regulated militia is. I have posted them numerous times...............or do you not want the 'copy and paste' crap that you claim is false? and there was a reason why the supreme court hasn't defined it, is because it is not in their purview. Not to mention that there have been a dozen federal and state cases that have specifically opined that it's an individual right with no relation to a militia..............that the supreme court has never overturned. NEVER

so again, find us where it specifically states that one has to be in a militia to have a right to bear arms

more bullshit assumption. I come from a little podunk non wealthy town where half of the people i know are trumpkins. the other half are not. I do not live in a gated community, I don't have that kind of money. But where I do live, there is a fair amount of crime, mostly robberies, but we do have the occasional rape or murder........so if you need to assuage your false reality of non crime areas except for the good guy who no longer is one, go ahead, but it doesn't change the fact of what I said.

Translation, you're done

Next
silly child.......for some reason you don't realize you've been done since before you started.......you want change that is unconstitutional without bothering to change the constitution........its' just not going to happen......

it doesn't matter how "militia" is defined.

we know what people are...

"the right of the PEOPLE to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Tough, of course, what is worth doing that isn't tough, and 30,000+ dead Americans every year make it worth doing

No one has to change the Constitution, no Constitutional right is absolute, even Scalia in his wacky "orginailaism" theory conceded regulation was Constitutional

You don't have to eliminate all existing guns, an impossible task, but rather make access to guns more difficult, when a high school kid or a poor person or a person on a terror watch list legally has access to assault weapons something isn't right

And having to work to keep guns out isn't a justification for not addressing the problem, should we give up drug enforcement cause it is too much of a task?

Great to see you LR! Hope all is well with you. You are missed my friend.

Guess I need to read up on European style gun laws. Haha.

Great to see you, Cawacko. Hope you had a good Christmas. I drop in once in a while to see what’s happening. Can’t stomach most of what I read...kind of like that OU game last night. Ugh...we got our butts whipped but good.

Here’s a link to some light reading to see what we gun owners are trying to avoid happening here.

https://www.quora.com/How-can-I-buy-a-gun-in-the-UK#

Also, it is my understanding that confiscation, fines, jail time or any combination of the three can happen if a gun isn’t “properly stored.” This pic I snapped in my living room just now (below) doesn’t show proper storage per their laws and I would at least incur a hefty fine. I’d hate for them to see the one on my dresser or the one beside my bed. It is also my understanding that in some towns you can’t even keep a gun in your home. If you “own” one it has to be kept at your shooting club and you have to go check it out to use it....there.

Not to mention that the guns my son, nephew and I used Friday while hunting would be illegal to purchase there.

But enacting and enforcing those types of laws seem to be the aim of many here.

Hope you and your family have a blessed new year.

That is true, they are still wrong, thirty thousand gun deaths a year in the developed country with the highest number of guns circulating prove it, more guns do not equal less shootings
