I have no idea where you worked but have you ever thought about the kind/frequency of trauma they see in Baltimore or Chicago? It literally has to be like working a MASH unit. According to the OP link there were 20 gun shot wounds *in one night* in Chicago. Yeah, it’s a bit city with lots of hospitals but it must be insane to work in one of them.

I have a friend that was in a Air Force anesthesia residency. in San Antonio and they rotated him through the county hospital to get his trauma experience. Not as bad as Chicago but bad enough. He was caring for a gangbanger that had been shot. The Banger was screaming threats to a surgery resident that was inserting a central line. My friend interrupted the banger and said you need to be nice to this guy (the surgery resident). He has your life in his hands and I have seen him kill more people on accident than you have on purpose. The gangbanger calmed down.
