OK, maybe I misjudged you...maybe I should cut you a break.
I get how angry and upset globalism has made you; you think you see a world where no-good foreigners are taking the jobs you think are rightfully yours, as they trade your personal comfort and economic security to increase corporate profits. I know that makes you angry because it also makes me angry. However, that is not what is actually happening today. Today, AI, robots, and automation are the things taking your rightful job from you. Rather than shut off and isolate yourself, you should be doing the opposite; leading the drive of globalization, that way you can control it. But simply being anti-globalist is not a viable or workable or realistic position to have, so you're setting yourself up for perpetual disappointment. You need to accept that we live in a globalized economy, and for it to not take advantage of you, there needs to be a strong government that protects you by adapting to globalization instead of working against it. Because when you pull back, someone else is going to step in to fill the void your isolation creates. That's why TPP was so important, and why we fucked ourselves by pulling out of it; those member nations looked to the US to serve as the leverage for them to negotiate deals with more economically-powerful countries like China. Chile negotiating a trade deal with China, while having the US supporting it as a TPP member nation, gives Chile the leverage they need to secure a better deal for their economy than if they had to go 1:1 with China.
Trade deals aren't as simplistic as Trump and Conservatives want you to think.
If Bernie was the Democratic nominee, would you vote for him over Trump?
