Are the Bible Thumpers Losing Their Grip on Our Politics?

I have no problem with the wording....I have a problem with fucking douchebags like you thinking that what applied in the late 1700's is still applicable today.
That's because unlike Liberalism, which changes its definition more times than I change underwear, Conservatism is based entirely upon sound and timeless principles.

Timeless principles like small Federal government, low taxes, more freedom, unlike Liberalism which pines for a Soviet-style dictatorship in the US. I bet you wept when the Eastern Bloc and the USSR collapsed.

You're a fucking moron.....let's take a look at the "situation" back in those heady days of what you speak....let's see....in 1787, there was no GRID to be plugged into...natural resources were plentiful....doctors took chickens in lieu of cash(if they could help you at all)....there was wide open spaces and much fewer people...which meant you could be self subsisting....it was hard work....but they did it.

No wonder there was low taxes and a small federal government....they didn't NEED to do anything.

If you want that kind of life so bad....what in the fuck's stopping you. Sell what you own....purchase your necessities buy a plot of forest land somewhere out west where the population is sparse and live like a pioneer.

And BTW....fuck you on the last bit of your idiotic post.

Oh come on, Admit it (and this applies to all Leftists here) you bawled your eyes out when Reagan, Thatcher, JPII, and Lech Walesa defeated your Communist empire.

Jimmy Carter wrote a book about the Revolutionary War - fiction - "The Hornet's Nest". And while he probably should stick to non-fiction, what struck me in that book is just HOW HARD it was do do stuff back then. I live in a rural area; but I have chain saw, weed whacker, generators. When I need something done like digging a trench or building a fence, I can hire people who have the right tools for the job. Reading his book which really went into what it took to homestead - to kill the trees, chop them down; to build the house; to clear the land; to dig a well; etc. UGH. No central heat and a/c; no refrigeration beyond a cold cellar dug into the ground; and doctors? Had to travel awhile to find one. Couldn't just go to the store if you were running low on shirts and pants; had to sew them yourself.

Cold Mountain had some similar stuff in it.

I enjoy reading about this stuff, because I know how hard it is even with modern tools. I laugh when I read a book where they just lit a campfire in 2 seconds flat... it's harder than that.

Learned a lot from a book about the Donner party; to start a fire on snow, they first laid down a layer of dry wood, then did the fire on top of that...used that when we were camping one time in a damp area. But when they talked about having to hack a trail (because they tried a new route that wasn't already laid out) and how it took all day to go maybe a mile - I totally understand because it's so hard to clear brush out here.

Yeah, life was TOUGH. I don't take roads for granted. I don't take fire protection services for granted. Hospitals, emergency services, etc. - thank goodness we have them! Research into diseases - thank you, government! All the work they do so we don't have epidemics of measles, mumps, chicken pox, whooping cough- THANK YOU GOVERNMENT!

Absolutely. I think all these fuckers should volunteer to work at Williamsburg or Jamestown as residents for a month or two. I'd love to see it all shut down to visitors for that month...preferably either in the dead of winter or the dog days of Summer. And even then they'd have the advantage that the towns are already there and resources such as wood would have to be shipped in....but they could bring in whole trees instead of pre-cut wood.

That's what they don't get....we can't go back to those days....and why would we? The downside is that with a huge population and the inherent personal costs of our modern technology....that Social problems are even greater now than back in those days.

Back then....if you had an axe...you had heat.....if you had a hoe and seed....you had food....all it took was a hell of a lot of work.

The idea is this. We don't need a nannystate government telling us what we should eat, how much money we are allowed to make, etc. And yet you communists still insist that Government is the end all to all problems. Reagan was correct when he said "Government is not the solution to our problems, Government IS the problem"

Great....take your fucking tax dollars back....but don't use my fucking roads....don't use my fire departments....pay for your own fucking kids....pay for your own medical out of your own pockets.

Good luck making money without being on the electrical grid(which is government subsidized) no access to our roads, no access to public water services....oh yeah....petroleum products too. Why should you have access to gas and heating oil that MY tax dollars subsidize....tell you what.....we'll prorate it to $15/gallon....which is what economists say is what we are really paying when you consider trying to keep the oil flowing from the ME by "keeping the peace...direct subsidies....and farm subsidies for ethanol.
