If you had been staying up with the conversation here, Earl, you would have realized that Jarod was quoting what his brother-in-law believes. He stated in an earlier post that his B.I.L. hates Jews and Catholics. I asked why. The post you responded to was what his B.I.L. says, not what Jarod thinks.

My two cents:

America traditionally has been an overwhelmingly Protestant nation, and the ceremony, ritual, and ecclesiastical authority of the Catholic church always offended Protestant theological sensibilities.

Catholics do not worship the pope. They do follow what he says because he is the leader of the church. Religious people are groomed to follow the teachings and directions of their leaders. That explains evangelicals going to crazy TV rallies and giving money to shysters.
