2-year-old Texas boy shoots himself in the head with father’s handgun

A two-year-old boy from Corsicana, Texas, a town of just under 24,000 people located between Dallas and Waco, shot himself in the head Wednesday night with his father’s handgun while his dad was looking away, police said.

The victim was identified as Kinsler Allen Davis, according to The Associated Press.

Davis was rushed to the local hospital in Fredricksberg before medics put him on a life flight to Dallas, but even doctors there could not save him.

A police statement obtained by Dallas-based CBS DFW explained that all physical evidence so far in the case indicates the shooting was accidental.

The boy found his 35-year-old father’s handgun while the man was interacting with something in his bedroom’s closet, with his son just feet away.

“As you can imagine, they’re extremely upset and distraught,” Corsicana police chief Randy Bratton reportedly said.

I wonder when the last time the dad ever attended drills for the well regulated Texas Militia to which he, de facto, belongs? If he had, I'll bet they would have told him to keep his guns away from his little children... unless, of course, the dad was sick of the whining little bastard and this was an easy way out.

Another day, another moronic thread from Zappa on an IRRESPONSIBLE gun owner.

Shall we start posting threads every time someone uses something in an irresponsible manner?

that would be fine if that is what you want to do... it would be preferable to you spamming and hijack this thread, that's for sure.

LOL... so we should instead repeat the exact same conversation on the other 50 threads that Zappa and others have started every time an irresponsible gun owner causes the death or harm to a child?

I was providing examples of other things for you to go all faux outrage on... why do you only care about the lives of kids that are dead due to irresponsible use of guns by the parent and not about the kids that die due to irresponsible parental use of cars and sex and bath tubs?

I don't dislike you
I do pity you
My guess is you won't be a father anytime soon

last I checked, participation in, knowledge of, or even AWARENESS of every thread was totally voluntary. You should not have to repeat ANY conversation you don't wish to repeat... or read a single thread that you'd prefer not to read. I would have thought you knew that.

Which is why I chose to participate in this thread in the manner I did. To drive home the point that you all are full of shit. You can't provide one example of a regulation that will stop situations like this from occurring. Every time asked, you all run away from answering it. When it is pointed out that kids tragically die due to other cases of parental irresponsibility, you get pissy about it and want to go back to fear mongering about guns.

please don't confuse me with others or conflate me into some giant sta-puff marshmallow man liberal. what would you think about forced sterilization for parents who let their kids kill other kids with guns? What would you think about taking away forever the guns of parents who allow their unsupervised kids to harm others with their guns? my guess is you would not support either approach.

REALLY?

No hyperbole...from me anyway.

No playing on emotion.

Just the facts.

And yet it STILL gets met with the usual taunts and derision.

So much for conservatives claims they just want honest debate.

Actually, if you had read each of the 1000 threads on this subject, you would know that I said the parents in such cases should be charged with negligent homicide. A felony. A felony that would preclude them from owning weapons when released from prison.

I am not confusing you with anyone. I am including you in the group that refuses to answer the question. WHAT regulation would have prevented this from occurring?

Here we go...derision.

More derision...

When are we going to get sensible bath tub regulations?

And more...

http://www.wkyc.com/video/2100940212001/1/Police-Mom-was-having-sex-while-kids-died-in-hot-car

apparently we need to regulate sex and cars too... more sex and cars... more kids dead

And still more...so much for open, honest debate.

Post after post after post of nothing but the same tired derision.

How can we have an 'honest' debate if you refuse to provide us with an example of a regulation that would have prevented this?

The reason you get mocked is because you continue to pretend that an irresponsible gun owner = responsible gun owners. You then pretend that the gun law bill that failed in Congress somehow would have prevented this.

So tell us Zappa... how can we have an honest discussion when you refuse to answer or address anything brought to you?

Instead we get gibberish like your above post.

What's the debate? As I posted in the other thread... You talk about compromise for gun laws but don't mention what legislation could have prevented this. We can require that people lock up their guns and not leave them out around children but unless someone from the government is constantly checking everyone's home it's still up to the individuals to follow the law. We can ask for harsher penalties for parents when incidents like this occur but that's not what has been debated in Congress. What do you want to see happen?
