Are any of these studies definitive? The answer is 'No, of course not,'" said Jeffrey Shaman, an epidemiologist at Columbia University who was not involved in the studies. As such, "to open schools because of some uninvestigated notion that children aren't really involved in this, that would be a very foolish thing," Shaman said (Ward, Vox, 5/2; Beasley, Reuters, 5/19; Malapaty, Nature, 5/7; Faulconbridge,Reuters, 5/19; Jankowicz, Business Insider, 5/22; Mandavilli, New York Times, 5/8).

Not many studies are 100%. Everyone knows that.

Not many studies are 100%. Everyone knows that.

Right, so you're forcing us into a false choice here that is all of your doing; return to normalcy and accept heavy risk, or don't and watch Conservatism evaporate at the polls.

Funny, you saying that after trying to pass your study off as the standard by which to open schools.

Yeah, he backed off that in one post.

They are so desperate to return to what they think is normalcy, but what was really utter shit.

Remember, we were in a recession BEFORE the COVID lockdowns.

We're having serious second thoughts about moving to WA. For now we're staying put in AK.

You will want to take a fucking look at this!:

Those who attended the session were shown handouts, including one that encouraged them to cultivate “networks with other white people who are practicing antiracist accomplicehood so you can talk through your struggles in the work of undoing your own whiteness.”

Diversity trainers instructed White employees in “practicing self-talk that affirms our complicity in racism.”

“Racism is not our fault but we are responsible,” one bullet point declared.

In order to be considered “accomplices,” White employees must give up “comfort,” “guaranteed physical safety,” “expectations or presumptions of emotional safety,” “control over other people and over the land,” and “relationships with some other white people.”

White employees were also urged to give up “niceties from neighbors and colleagues,” “the certainty of your job,” and “accepting jobs and promotions when we are not qualified, including racial equity jobs.”

This isn't the flu, this is COVID. It is not the same, and if you think it is then go forth and infect yourself with COVID to prove it to everyone.

That is, if you have courage, which I don't believe you have.

Do you have the courage to post the COVID mortality rate for 0-20 age group lol?

Except for the fact they would have fired me lol.

Are you saying school teachers are less essential than store clerks? Are teachers aware of your low opinion of their occupation?

No one should be working right now. We should be on a nationwide shelter-in-place that guarantees everyone's wages and cancels rent.

This mess is all because of your choice to vote for Trump in 2016, and all your solutions suck and have only gotten more people killed.

We have no idea what the health implications of opening schools will bring. Kids have been holed up. There have been no studies showing how likely they are too spread it or to catch it. Age is thought of as protecting you from the worst of Corona, but an 11 year old died from it. https://www.healthline.com/health-n...r-the-outbreak#Expanded-testing-and-detection Trump has no problem risking the health of kids if he thinks it will help him in Nov. it is different just being exposed or sitting in a Corona filled room for hours.

dont do it.
I talked to a woman north of Seattle - near the Canadian border and she is appalled at how the state is being run
It's about the worse choice you could make

No, the discussion was about your ability to understand and recognize behaviors and nuance online vs. IRL.

My argument is that there is no difference, and that you can read and understand someone's behavior on a Zoom call just as easily as you can in person.

Your argument was that you can only understand behavioral nuance if you're in person, and that judgment is based on nothing, since you said your entire business is done remotely.
again more stupidity.
Children cannot learn social ques without peer to peer interaction.
It can be as simple as 2 kids both reaching for a toy at the same time and how they sort it out.
Interactions cannot be done online

Omg lol.

If no one works, that means bye-bye Amazon, Wally World, cable goes out or you need a plumber—good luck with that. Truckers? Oh, crap lol.

But the government is going to give us free money and we don’t have to pay rent.

Maybe we can fix a salad with some $20 bills. Smother it with some Ranch maybe

What’s silly about it?

Teachers can pick or choose the risks while healthcare workers are expendable?
Go reread what you originally posted. I have no idea where you worked or why you were “fired”
The healthcare workers I know feel it is there job and life’s work to care for others during this pandemic.
Teachers improve lives, but there are many ways they can teach without the risk of the classroom.
