It was an incredibly weak enemy.

There are some things that the American right and left can agree on. China is growing, but it is going to be a long time before it can challenge the US-EU axis on even a total basis - maybe by 2050. I don't think they are ever going to be able to on a per capita basis unless significant reforms are carried out. I'm not scared of China at all.
 
I will preface this by saying that I am not too sure that this guy is actually Chinese.

But the most compelling argument I heard for staying in Iraq once we were there was the fact that other countries could and would spin this as a US "defeat". Whether this particularly character is Chinese or not, there are definitely foreign nationals who are encouraged by the continued violence in Iraq and Afghanistan, which they see as signs of US weakness. We sometimes get so focused on the considerable divides in American politics that we forget that we are ultimately on the same side. The things we agree on as Americans far outnumbers the ultimately minute issues we disagree on. It's important, in my opinion, to remember that the current American-dominated international system will not always endure and that we hasten its fall with our vitriolic internal arguments.

We hasten it's fall when our leadership accepts worthless paper in return for decimating and outright illegalizing the productive capacity of the nation.

Thank you for that... it shows the exact same thing I said. The US is the third largest behind Russia and Canada. China is slightly behind the US. Glad you agree.

The overwhelming majority of the chinese live in abject poverty. There are almost no freedoms and no individual rights.

The rest of the stuff you are talking about is secondary to those items, especially the freedoms.



You can talk about our economy or whatever. As soon as you can do better than Tianamen Square, let us know.
