Alec Baldwin to be charged with involuntary manslaughter in 'Rust' movie set shooting

Baldwin had professional armorers taking care of guns. It is not his field of expertise. His armorer is a 2nd generation one. Her father is a highly esteemed and experienced pro.
Baldwin is not a gun nut. He handled a gun like a non-pro might. It is not a crime. This is a political stunt by a right-wing prosecutor. I suspect she has political ambitions. Hutchins's family already agreed to a financial settlement. This case is an after-the-fact one.

It was actually the FBI who claimed Baldwin would have had to have pulled the trigger. It's ironic that NOW you MAGAs love the FBI

Crime is the violation of the law. involuntary homicide in New Mexico is against the law. So yes it is a crime.

Involuntary manslaughter could be a crime, but involuntary homicide is not. They are charging Baldwin with involuntary manslaughter, not involuntary homicide, because involuntary homicide is not a crime.

If anything, New Mexico is more lax than most jurisdictions on homicides.

Meanwhile, this looks a lot more like a civil suit to me.
There's no need at all to criminally prosecute, except that prosecutors want the publicity so that they can run for governor.
