Alan M. Dershowitz: Why Donald Trump Cannot Get a Top-Tier Lawyer

There are disturbing suggestions that among the reasons lawyers are declining the case is because they fear legal and career reprisals.

There is a nefarious group that calls itself The 65 Project that has as its goal to intimidate lawyers into not representing Trump or anyone associated with him. They have threatened to file bar charges against any such lawyers.

I wrote an op-ed offering to defend pro bono any lawyers that The 65 Project goes after. So The 65 Project immediately went after me, and contrived a charge based on a case in which I was a constitutional consultant, but designed to send a message to potential Trump lawyers: If you defend Trump or anyone associated with him, we will target you and find something to charge you with. The lawyers to whom I spoke are fully aware of this threat -- and they are taking it seriously.... It may even be worse today

Then why doesn't that shithead defend him? The judge already told Trump that if he could not find one the court would appoint one for him. Trump has screwed so many lawyers that I would not blame them for telling the asshole to go piss up a rope.

trump doesn't pay his lawyers.

trump cannot keep his mouth shut.

Any other claims are just nonsense.

Ironic how the magistrate informed trump's current legal team that they are stuck with him for the duration of the trial.

You're such an arsehole, the article is quoting Dershowitz directly ffs.

Court is much different than impeachment. With complicit terrorists in the Senate, trump got away with myriad crimes while in office.

trump cannot win any of his criminal cases if they proceed based on facts. No lawyer wants to be the one who lost the biggest case of his/her career.

Especially when all cases become pro bono work for a supposed billionaire.

And yet, the Op IS a true story.

Now what are you going to do? :dunno:

How the fuck do you know that? If it were not questioned and known to be true you would find it elsewhere in AP (Associated Press) news. Usually when you find wild accusations like this from admittedly biased sources you will find them elsewhere, or they are bullshit. Do you have another link from an AP source saying the same thing?

Democrats will do anything to destroy Trump

Trump, himself, does damn near anything and everything to destroy Trump.

He is a moron...on the level of the morons who continue to support him.

Dershowitz is last year...or last decade. He is a washed-up, has-been who is as in search of relevancy as Trump...and who has even less chance of succeeding. If I were to compare him to anyone...it would be to Rudy Giuliani...two guys hoping to ruin any legacy to which they might be entitled.

What the 65 project actually is -
https://www.axios.com/2022/03/07/trump-election-lawyers-disbar

https://www.influencewatch.org/organization/65-project/

Mission

The 65 Project was launched to punish lawyers who supported President Trump and to dissuade future attempts to overturn elections on illegitimate grounds. 5 6

According to the 65 Project, then-President Trump and a group of lawyers attempted to steal the 2020 presidential election by filing dozens of false lawsuits to disrupt the electoral process and permit Trump or his sympathizers to use their power to overturn the election results. The 65 Project refers to these lawyers as the “army of Big Lie Lawyers,” a reference to the concept of a lie so ostentatious that people doubt it could be credibly fabricated, a principle credited to Second World War-era Nazi propaganda. 7
