ACLU demands and gets ban on saying "God bless america" at school

I personally think its kindof sad that singing God Bless America even offends anybody, even people that don't believe in God. We all love our country and want what's best for it and so I guess I just dont get how someone could be mad about kids singing about that song. It shouldnt be mandatory or anything like that but its a nice song with a good message and so the fact that it actually upsets people is confusing to me.

Whats's wrong with "Imaginary Sky Daddy Bless America"?
It does kind of mess up the pentameter balance of the song, but aside from that It says pretty much the same thing...

I disagree I think Its not the same thing, and I think changing the name and meaning of the song would be only doing it for insulting reasons.

What of those who are insulted by the inclusion of the word "God"?
Sing it in church all day long.
It doesn't belong in schools.

Well Princess, if they weren't forced to ...why would there be any controversy at all?

Because some asshole lib-slime like you made a big deal out of it just because they say it in any way, forced or not.

It's like you lib-swill gets all in a twist because Tim Tebow prays on the football field IN PUBLIC VIEW, for Gawds sake.

If you are insulted by the inclusion of the word God then i'd have to wonder why, especially if you don't believe in Him. If you dont believe in Him then it should neither offend you or make you happy. As for God Bless America the song has a meaning that is more about love for this country than it is about conforming to a religious faith. Here are the lyrics to the song

While the storm clouds gather far across the sea,
Let us swear allegiance to a land that's free,
Let us all be grateful for a land so fair,
As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer.

God Bless America,
Land that I love.
Stand beside her, and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans, white with foam
God bless America, My home sweet home.

What is truly so insulting about it? If you also read the history of the song you would see that it's meaning is rooted in peace and solidarity. I think this country needs so much more of that right now than it does finding another thing to be somehow offended by.

Great decision by the courts. Sorry but god does not belong in schools. If I were a teacher I would troll people so hard and make their 6 year olds say praise Allah or Hail Satan until they got the fucking point.

Do you want all paper currency bills banned from school premises since they say "in god we trust". THINK

forcing children to mouth words of belief in a religion they dont believe in is UnAmerican.

what if you were forced in school to pretend you believed in a religion you didnt believe in?

the people can still say It

the kids who dont want to say It will now not be punished

why do you want them punished?

Can you please stop insuating things about me? I didn't say or imply that I want anybody punished. I even said it shouldn't be mandatory.

he OP lied about this decision.
