Jon Stewart Rally Attracts Estimated 215,000

An estimated 215,000 people attended a rally organized by Comedy Central talk show hosts Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert Saturday in Washington, according to a crowd estimate commissioned by CBS News.

The company AirPhotosLive.com based the attendance at the "Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear" on aerial pictures it took over the rally, which took place on the Mall in Washington. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 10 percent.

CBS News also commissioned AirPhotosLive.com to do a crowd estimate of Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" rally in August. That rally was estimated to have attracted 87,000 people. Amid criticism from conservatives that the estimate was low, CBS News detailed the methodology behind it here.

TBD reported that because of the high turnout many would-be rally attendees retreated to bars to watch the event.

The National Park Service does not estimate crowds. The New York Times' Brian Stelter wrote on Twitter during the event that the Park Service privately told Viacom there were "well over 200,000" people at the rally, according to an executive.

Stewart joked during the rally that there were ten million people present and, in reference to the difficulty of making crowd estimates, solemnly promised to "count them all."

Comedy Central's permit for the event said it was expecting 60,000 people, though, as the Wall Street Journal notes, it ordered enough port-a-potties for 150,000.
 
Wow... more than double Beck's rally? You obviously must not be counting the black people at Beck's rally!! I understand that, since this one didn't have any blacks in attendance, but black people do count ya know?

Well, the estimates for Stewart/Colberts rally are 150k, and Beck's drew 300k... so I figured he must not be counting the black people who attended Beck's rally. Like I said, it's understandable, since there weren't any black people apparent at Stewart/Colberts rally, but they still count as people. Just sayin!

Earlier today they were saying 60k- Even at 150k for the comics- Estimate at Becks rally was 300k to 500k so waterdork loses.:clink:

And hardly a spot of ethnic color in Stewarts' goofy crowd- what's up with that? :D
 
I will focus on why we are voting the way we are voting, because Americans are not stupid. They get it. It just takes a while.

Now, I'm not talking about policy here, I'm talking about you. How do our leaders see you? What is your role in the future of this republic?

What do you want it to be? Do you want it to be that you want to be coddled? Because that's one option, it's simple. You need help. You can't do it by yourself. Mommy is going to come and push you on the swing at the playground, but not on a dangerous swing because you could get boo-boos. Gee, Beave. Really? Yes. You can't get moving by yourself either. Mommy will be there to push you.

Now, that might be helpful when you are four, but is that where America is now?

The number is lower than I expected from CBS....as long as they were going to lie, they could have said at least 300,000 to tie Beck....but I guess you can't stretch the truth too far....

Becks rally?
Interestingly CBS is estimating the crowd at 87,000. NBC quoted the National Parks service which put it at 300,000.

Believe liberal media or neutral National Parks Service....????
