You said: "it's odd that someone could hate a country as much as he hates the one that has treated him so well." Your comment that he "hates the country so much" is supposition, given that I didn't see the word "hate" in his comment.

Honesty should compel you to admit that for every million Kaepernick gets the team gets much, much more. Its a quid pro quo.

“It took me a long time, and a number of people talking to me through the years to get a sense of this. If you are a normal white American, the truth is you don’t understand being black in America and you instinctively under-estimate the level of discrimination and the level of additional risk.”
