29% think armed revolt might be necessary

I found this part of the article from the OP to be very interesting.
 
I have thought about this thread today. I would not have been one of the 29% that thinks that an armed revolution will be necessary in the immediate future.

But as I thought about the responses, I have come to see something that disturbs me. (I know, most think I am disturbed anyway)

The amount of ridicule for those who would participate in such a revolution is astounding. Not one of those who made fun of the idea have given any inkling that there would EVER be a reason they would join such an effort.

Now I am not trying to claim that disliking Obama or disliking Bush were sufficient reasons for an armed revolt. But life in a free society means we have to draw lines between what we dislike and what we will not accept. At what point is the loss of freedom worth risking your life to stop? At what point is the peaceful comfort we enjoy not enough to stop us from standing against tyranny.

I have always maintained that no other nation could conquer and hold us. First of all I believe our military would repell them. But mostly I think no one could rule a nation as outspoken, independent and spoiled as we are.

So I think the danger is not a sudden conquering, but a slow one. We would not lose our freedom to defeat by an outside enemy, but by inches to those inside our country. We have willingly given up freedoms for money, for a false sense of security, and in answer to emotional appeals. As long as we have cheap gas and 275 channels on cable, we will suffer increasingly limited freedoms.

We may all have differing opinions on where we draw the line, but anyone who believes no line can be drawn is either delusional or a coward of the worst sort.

Whether the revolutionaries would win or not is only partly relevant. That all people must be willing to stand, at some point, and demand that the politicians change is the important part. If they believe we will always be complacent, why should they risk their cushy jobs to do what is best?
