2012 Predictions...

Palin can neither see Russia from Wasilla or Juneau, as neither is located near the Bering Straight.

Stupidity should be a deal-breaker in any candidate, and I don't care what they believe in.

Threedee, it was what is known as a "figure of speech" not a literal testament. You took it as such because that's the way the liberal leftist media wanted you to take it, and you obliged. Just as you are buying into the "she's stupid" rhetoric. Correct me if I am wrong, but actual "STUPID" people can't get elected governor of a state, in fact, they would have a difficult time getting elected to ANY political office, because they are STUPID! Now, perhaps you want to 'rethink' that bit of idiocy and get back to me? She's clearly NOT as stupid as you seem to think, or as the mainstream liberal media has made her out to be, you're just a prole who is too fucking lazy to think for yourself, so you rely on the MSM to tell you what you believe.

If you don't like Sara Palin, you're going to have to do better than "she's stupid" because that isn't going to work for you. It's just NOT! Too many smart, informative, and intellectual people are going to look at what she actually says, what her positions are on the issues, what she stands for, and how she plans to tackle our problems, and they are going to vote on THAT basis, and not what Keith Olbermann told them to think. You can do as you please.

If you think stupid people don't routinely get elected to office, you must not know of too many... This is possible, because when you're employers are also stupid, they can "relate" to you, but these days much more is demanded of presidents than back when the populists were running candidates.

And, seeing as how you're stupid, I don't think you're a great reference for which stupid candidates are stupid.

For reference sake, here is a "stupid" person trying to get elected:

Now, let's all wait and see how Alvin does against Jim DeMint in South Carolina. If he wins, then you will have been proven correct, that "stupid" people CAN get elected. I don't think that will happen.... just saying.

This is an example of a phenomena that I have been noticing on this site. The inability to recognize satire or something said in jest. Do you really think Palin was serious when she said this? There are many people out there who attirbute Tina Fey's satire remarks of Palin to Palin herself.

So lets examine what Palin really said:

"Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia,
and on our other side the land boundary that we have with Canada....
It certainly enhances my foreign policy credentials.
It is very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia.
As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where do they go?
It's Alaska. It is just right over the border.
It is from Alaska that we send those out to make sure
that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia,
because they are right there, next to our state."

Now Tina Fey:

"I can see Alaska from my house."

Now which of the two have been reported most by the press? Get the picture?

On Palin... although I dont envision her as a future President. However, I do think she has emerged into a very important voice ..... and I do agree with her on a whole lot of issues. She is a self made Conservative Woman who made it through her own hard work... and that bugs the hell out of the Liberal Left and especially the NOW gang.

I'm telling you guys, if they had the elections tomorrow, Sara Palin would stomp Obama's ass. You people are just not grasping the fact that she has overwhelming public support. That might change as she campaigns, and we get closer to crunch time, but for right now, her popularity is through the roof, and frankly, I don't see anyone else remotely close to generating that kind of enthusiasm with the base of conservatives.
.

Sure, Dix. Just like she was going to stomp him in 2008. Remember? You kept telling us "wait & see," and "you really have no idea what's about to happen, do you?", throughout the election season.

Palin is not stomping anyone, at any time. She's a fringe candidate that has a passionate following, but they are not huge, and they certainly don't include independents.

Uhm... Yes, you can see parts of Russia from parts of Alaska, they are like 38 miles apart. Palin is extremely intelligent, not a "Harvard Grad" but look at how well the last couple of those have turned out for ya!

You're stuck on the 'ambush gotchya interview' she did with Katie Couric, which was totally and completely designed, edited, and set up to make her look as stupid as possible. Congratulations, you have everything it takes to become a brainwashed little pinhead liberal!

If Palin had any smarts at all, she would have discerned what was going on and would have been able to parry Couric's comments more astutely. After eight years how could any pol in the know not give some answer to "Do you agree with the bush doctrine?", besides "In what respect?" She clearly showed she can't think on her feet when hardballs are pitched at her.

Again, I pose the challenge to you... Tell me what she advocates or supports, that you do not like! Tell me specifically, what you 'oppose' in her message?

For starters:

1. Anti-choice.
2. Opposes embryonic stem cell research.
3. Praised Bush bailout, opposed Obama's..
4. Quit job as governor, giving spurious reasons for doing so.
5. Opposes gay marriage.
6. Opposes Ledbetter act.
7. Opposes benefits for homosexual couples.
8. Supports the death penalty.
9. Supports teaching creationism along side evolution in public schools.
10. Supports teaching intelligent design in public schools.
11. Supports more nukes.
12. Supports any Israeli attack on Iran.
13. Confused about VP's role in government.
14. "Death panels".

You've not done that! Do you just not comprehend this, or what? If Palin is not the "right person" tell me why she's not... it can't be some personal prejudice, like "she's dumb" or something without merit. She's obviously smart enough to be elected governor of Alaska, and be picked for the second highest office in the land by John McCain.... I haven't seen YOU accomplish anything close to that.

She's not the right person because the issues she's most vocal about are those that push the country towards the far right, and most of the country is made up of moderates.

Palin is not stomping anyone, at any time. She's a fringe candidate that has a passionate following, but they are not huge, and they certainly don't include independents.

"Fringe" candidates don't generally encounter 10's of thousands of supporters at every stop. Usually, they only garner a few dozen "fringe" supporters. I understand why you wish to marginalize her by making her a "fringe" candidate, and I have to say, it has been a strategy that has worked well, many people have bought in to the idea Palin is unqualified to be president, just based on this sort of rhetoric.

And no, I don't remember Palin running for president before, when did that happen? She was picked as a running mate by John McCain, who totally missed the boat on how to utilize her, keeping her muzzled and in the background for most of the campaign. This wasn't Palin's doings, it was McCain's, she had the message and philosophy America wanted to hear, unfortunately, John McCain didn't want her to articulate it. How many times did Nixon lose before he stomped McGovern's ass? I don't think you can go by what happened in elections past. Well... maybe YOU can, but you're an idiot.

You're wrong in saying that it "bugs the hell out of the Liberal Left and especially the NOW gang" that she's a self-made woman.

What bugs us is that she took advantage of all the doors that were opened for her due to the hard work done by liberals and NOW, and then promoted the opposite when she was given a voice.

She's not the right person because the issues she's most vocal about are those that push the country towards the far right, and most of the country is made up of moderates.

Not according to Gallup... (you do know who they are, right?) In a recent polling project, they found that most people identify as 'conservative' ...in EVERY state. Even in states you traditionally think of as liberal hotbeds, most of the people identify as 'conservative'. We are clearly a center right country. In another Gallup poll, conservatives outnumber progressives 2 to 1. Far from an 'even' split. Now, there is a wide range of conservative viewpoints, many are 'moderate' conservatives, and a 'liberal' is not necessarily a 'progressive' liberal, but still... we are a 'center right' country, not a 'moderate' country.

Very revealing comment here. Liberals think NOW is responsible, not the individual! Somehow, if it weren't for NOW, Sara Palin would be in the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant, but because of NOW, she was "GIVEN" something. She didn't earn anything on her own, after all, she's just a dumb inferior woman! NOW is what enabled her to accomplish everything, without them, women would never be able to do anything, because... well, they are just WOMEN!

SEXIST!

Remember that one? Over & over & over again.

Priceless.

This is where you are obviously sniffing glue. You do remember that Palin was thrusted into the National Limelight overnight when she did that interview. There is no question She was unprepared for that interview. I mean really... like you said hardballs were pitched to her by the main st. press just as they were pitched to Obama ...correct?

And this list of yours ... is this where mainstream America sits on the issues..? Seems like the most important issue to you are Aborting the unborn and Gay America .... yeah thats whats on the top of everyones mind these days.

Every stride she's made in a white man's world is because feminists fought for them long before she came along. It took another 25 years after Geraldine Ferraro for women like Hillary and Palin to be taken seriously as candidates for the highest office in the country.

Palin thinks women should be getting equal pay for equal work yet she didn't support the Ledbetter Act because she thought it would be a boon for trial lawyers. It's clear to me that we wouldn't have needed the Ledbetter Act if there was no paycheck discrimination against women in the workplace. Women are still earning approx. 25% than men for equal work, explain to me how this is fair.

Neither I nor NOW said Palin was "given" something by feminists, but better women than her had a harder time making it in the past. You would be foolish not to acknowledge this.

What I'm saying is that even people like us message board experts were more up to date on current events than Palin was in her interviews. When McCain picked her, she was a complete unknown to the vast majority of Americans. I don't find it strange that she needed to be questioned on all aspects of the federal government to find out where she stood. After all, she would have been President if McCain, God forbid, died in office.

Obama had enough hardballs tossed at him. He was able to deflect them because his intellect is superior to Palin's. You're ignoring the fact that Obama was on the hot seat about completely idiotic issues such as his birth, his religion, his colleges, his father, etc.

And this list of yours ... is this where mainstream America sits on the issues..? Seems like the most important issue to you are Aborting the unborn and Gay America .... yeah thats whats on the top of everyones mind these days.

I went to On the Issues and picked out the main ones that liberals have problems with. My list mirrors the way On the Issues cited them, which was alphabetically.

I think it's a stretch to call general questions about foreign policy experience & the Bush Doctrine "hardballs."

Yes, you most certainly did say (and I quote) What bugs us is that she took advantage of all the doors that were opened for her due to the hard work done by liberals and NOW, and then promoted the opposite when she was given a voice. Now, maybe that's not what you MEANT to say, or maybe you didn't really intend what it inferred, but you did indeed say it, and I posted your exact quote. As I said, it is very revealing of how liberals think in general. Women like Palin are "given" a voice by the likes of NOW, not because they have a strong message or make a valid point. It's actually a very sexist and bigoted view of women, camouflaged by support for an activist group, who you attribute all the credit to, rather than the individual.

It's NEVER going to be "fair" in your mind, because women are inherently inferior to men, and require NOW to "give" them a voice or "give" them equal pay.... they are too stupid and dumb to do it on their own, because they are inferior women. The same can be said for liberals and Affirmative Action for blacks... you think black people are inferior, therefore, AA is needed to "give" them something they don't inherently possess. Without it, they will never achieve anything, because they are inferior to white people. That's your way of thinking, and it exposes your profound bigotry and prejudice.

If someone asks, do you like caviar? And you respond with, what kind? And the someone can't follow up with an answer, does that mean you don't know what caviar is? Nope... it actually means you understand more about caviar than the person asking the question.

She was asked if she "agreed with the Bush Doctrine" and she asked for clarification "what aspect?" As Britt Hume and others have pointed out, there are three various versions of the Bush Doctrine, none of which are clearly defined in a single document. She actually showed remarkable understanding of this, by asking "what aspect?" I firmly believe the pinhead Gibson didn't have a clue there was more than one Bush Doctrine, and I doubt (STILL) most liberal idiots don't understand there were more than one, and they all have different aspects.

That's not even a good try at spin.

I saw that interview. She had no friggin' clue what it was.

I saw the interview too, and it appeared she was well aware there are three different Bush Doctrines, all with distinctly different aspects, which prompted her to ask Gibson a very simple question he never did answer. Which aspect?

I don't think YOU have a friggin' clue what the Bush Doctrine is!

All this really shows is that you will spin anything.

It wasn't just the phrasing of the question; it was the tone of her voice, the look on her face & her general demeanor.

No one - and by that, I mean no one who isn't hardcore like you & needs to spin everything by any Republican into a positive - thought that she had any idea what the Bush Doctrine was. It was a simple question - do you agree with it or not?

She didn't know what it was, Dix. I hate to be the one to break it to you.
