Ann Romney: Not All Moms Have the Choice to Be a Stay-At-Home Mom

Once again, they demonstrate that they are full of hate and envy. It is for this reason that I, despite my left-wing stance on many issues, would NEVER call myself a liberal.

Romney had enough money to run against Kennedy for Senator from Mass. Do you imagine that he earned all that the year before he ran?
One was the son of a Governor, the other the child of a single mother.

You people are such simpletons sometimes. My mother was a professor at a state university, my father a ship captain, and they hired help to raise my brother and I.

It is possible, she is a cancer survivor and suffers from MS. Clearly life was "easy" for her in all things. Idiots really shouldn't be personally attacking this woman, but I'm glad they do.

She has interjected herself into this campaign, durno, with mischaracterizations, innuendo and plain out lies. She is now officially fair game. The libs have been silent about her until she made herself out as some kind of expert on women's work and other women's issues. Now she needs to prove her meddle and honesty if only for the sake of posterity.

Please tell us about these "mischaracterizations, innuendo and plain out lies."

You truly are unbelievable.

He earned a lot of money before 1994, yes. I believe most of his wealth was earned during the mid to late 80's.

LMAO... so again... when did Romney run? When his youngest son was how old?

also... just because your parents chose to hire help, we are supposed to presume that Romney did as well? Neither of your parents were stay at home parents. Thus, they had a need to hire someone. Ann stayed home to raise the kids. So the situations are not the same.

Again, as Voltaire pointed out... they had their first two sons when they were still in school, living in a basement apartment. How many people living in basement apartments do you think have nannies/maids?

If you actually desired to know the truth, you would research it for yourself.

I don't know quite what your problem is lately, but it is rather annoying.

Thanks for the link. Here is one for you;

The way it was explained to me when I came here is that if I make a statement I provide the proof.
Sorry you are anoyed so easily. Perhaps you do not enjoy debate as much as you once did?

How many people's fathers were CEOs of giant international corporations, and multiple term governors of large industrial states?
Keep it up SuperShill, I havn't laughed so hard in minutes.

My parents were at best middle class, yet they could afford domestic help. Romney's father was a 1%, there is no comparison.

The fact that his father was wealthy is irrelevant. Some parents help a lot, some a little, and some, none at all. Unlike liberal parents, conservative parents teach their children that they must work hard to accomplish their financial goals. That's what my parents taught me and it worked well.

Also, did you even read the links that SF and I provided? Allow me to provide you with some excerpts:

"Romney attended Stanford University for a year, where he worked as a night security guard to fund secret trips home to see Ann." If he was getting help from daddy, why did he work as a security guard?

"In June 1968, an automobile Romney was driving in southern France was hit by another vehicle, seriously injuring him and killing one of his passengers, the wife of the mission president." Yeah, this guy's never had a hard day in his life.

"The Romneys' first son, Tagg, was born in 1970 while the Romneys were undergraduates at Brigham Young and living in a basement apartment. Ann subsequently gave birth to Matt (1971), Josh (1975), Ben (1978), and Craig (1981). Ann Romney's work as a homemaker would enable her husband to pursue his career."

"Ann Romney was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1998; Romney described watching her fail a series of neurological tests as the worst day of his life."

Yeah, sounds like a real picnic.

1. Stanford. Ivy league. Who paid? Secret trips home? I guess daddy wouldn't pay for those huh? Are you kidding me? Put some of your massive dedcutive skills to work, son.

2. And? Personal tradgedy afflicts all families in one way or another. Is this supposed to prove he wasn't wealthy? Was Princess Diana wealthy? She was killed in a car crash.

3. Basement appartments can be large, airy and well appointed, depending upon the building they are in. Again, meaningless.

4. My mother was aflicted with viral menningitis the same year and lost a large part of her personality in addition to barely surviving. Again, what is your point?

LMAO... you just continue with the liberal absurdity... tell us, how many college kids living in a basement apartment with two kids do you know that have a nanny/maid?

Who said life was easy for her?

The woman is claiming she understands the plight of working mothers because she stayed home with 5 children, I belive her creditability depends on how much help she had. I suspect she had a lot more help than the average working mother.

Even if for no other reason than not having to worry about money.

Here's the bottom line, Rune. You are the one claiming that Ann Romney is completely out of touch with reality - that she has no fucking clue what the life of a typical American woman looks like (which, incidentally, didn't seem to be an issue when Teresa Heinz Kerry was your nominee's wife). We have presented evidence to the contrary. You have provided no evidence whatsoever - only the fact that Mitt's father was wealthy. I won't hold my breath.
