obama blocks texas voter id law

The laws literally do not allow you to gather any evidence when you are working at the polls. The information that is requested from a voter certainly does not prove citizenship. Not when a copy of utility bill (a copy, mind you) can be used as "identification". While most voters simply show a driver's license, you can literally vote with a copy of a utility bill as your only identification.

Now, I still don't see how Obama could block the law, he's not part of the Judicial Branch and the State holds its own election. The Federal Executive Branch has zero power over voting laws in any state.
He can in certain Southern States via the 1964 Voters rights act.

Voter registration is a problem. Remember ACORN? Many states have sued ACORN, so obviously there is a problem.
Dude, the bullshit about ACORN has been so completely discredited. I wouldn't even cite that if I was you. That's just right wing fantasy land. You reich wingers pulled that shit in our State...guess what? ACORN was completely absolved of any wrong doing. So, strike 1.

I might be a lying loser but at least I'm not a right wing extremist member of the Klan like you! :)

Now you sound like Poet. You and him are pretty close I hear.

So we agree you're a lying loser. Now show all the kind folks why you think I'm a member of the Klan. Good luck.

a right that people fought and died for and is embodied in our constitution

impediments to voting are a favorite for those wishing to prevent a group of people from voting

i expect it will eventually require scotus to rule on this...again

if you can't, in the span of 4 years get a valid form of identification then there is something majorly shady about you. You need an ID to function in this society. Lets stop pretending this is anything other than a vehicle to allow people to vote that shouldn't be able to.

Proving who you are is not denying anyone any right. Silly mongrels.

That's it...toss that "mongrel" word around at a few posters and maybe...juuuuuust maybe everyone will forget the racist way you used it when referring to our President.

That's not the point here Grind. You have to identify yourself when you register to vote. What these bills are requring is that you provide additional identification at the time you vote.

The way it's done in Ohio is you have to provide your name, address, either your drivers license # or the last four digigs of your SS# and provide a signature. You have identified your self. When you arrive at your precinct to vote, you have to sign in, you signature is compared against the signature on copy at the precinct to assure it is your signature.

So the question here, is why all of a sudden does a photo ID become required when there has essentially been no problem with voter fraud?

Show all of us some critical thought on why you believe I'm a member of the Klan.
I think your mongrel comment below proves that. It also proves what a fucking moron you are. Hell were a nation of mongrels! What makes you think your pasty white trailer park ass is blue blooded? LOL

My "Mongrel" comment proves you and a few others are dumber than a broken ax handle.

Let's stop pretending that this is anything other than a vehicle to put up as many obstacles as possible for Democratic voters to exercise their right to vote. The Texas law in particular is pretty up front about this:

(1) In addition to drivers licenses, military IDs and handgun licenses are acceptable forms of ID. Do you think handgun owners and military personnel are are more likely to vote Democrat or Republican?

(2) Student IDs are not acceptable forms of ID. Do you think young people are more likely to vote Democrat or Republican?

(3) Elderly people automatically qualify for mail0in voting without any ID. Do you think elderly people are more likely to vote Democrat or Republican?

And that's not even getting into the fact that Hispanics, who are more likely to vote Democrat than Republican, are twice as likely as non-Hispanics to not have the required identification. Of course, they could get the required documentation if they have the paperwork handy and can get to a DMV during its business hours, which for many people may indeed be quite a burden. If they don't have all of their papers in order, they have to go through a whole series of things that cost both money and time just to be able to exercise their right to vote.

The folks in Texas made no effort to hide what this was all about.

If we're a nation of mongrels, why does the word make your head spin?

ok... that's ohio.

I admit I am not familiar with all the issues voters of different states have to deal with, but if the stuff damo says is true, there are obviously compelling reasons to have a forum of voter ID.

Why? Because fuck mouthbreather proles too fucking stupid to get a voterid in the span of 4 years.

What are the compelling reasons again? I must have missed them.
