Obama loses the Catholic vote

Another irrelevant response.....Obama can compromise all he wants
The issue is telling a Church what they MUST support against their beliefs.....any Church...and any issue.....
The Constitution gives the Church absolute rights in the first amendment...rights against governmental interferance.
Now if it can be argued that the Church, any Church,
is doing something unconstitutional, Obama might have leg to stand on.....

Can government mandate that the Cath. Church ordain women as priests ?......

Some priest denied Ed Kennedy communion in Church......could he appeal to the gov. or is it not their business ?

Can Cath. Hospitals be forced to perform abortions in their OP....?

Typing real slow, just for you Bravo, try to keep up. Obama dropped the provision, it is over, the situation no longer exists.

Whats that got to do with it ?

What it has to do with it is that the bishops are no longer listened to by the lay people. They lost their moral authority by the way the handled the sex scandals.
Their opinions are no longer relevant, especialy when 9 out of ten catholics can clearly see the need for and utility of birth controll.

Their stand on this latest issue makes them even more irrelevant than ever.

Maybe.......but your post ignores point of the debate, how typical........Obama backed down and now ORDERS the insurance companys to provide the coverage for free.....
So it may or may not be over.....

You think no one will remember Obama trying to circumvent the Constitution by decree.....every one forgets about it....?

You could be right, or you might see some people talking about it until November......
\
It may come up every time Obamacare is discussed........we'll see........I'm sure the msm will drop it

Of course they'll drop it. It's not even newsworthy.

Are you still bitching about all the ways Bush trampled the document? If that POS can get re-elected, I don't see it as much of an issue for Obama.

Thats all irrelevant....who cares what the lay people think?.....or even how they vote ?.....the issue is the constitution in this case and every religion is at risk....not just Catholics......its the decree that ignores a religious doctrine....whether Jewish, Christian, or Muslim.....
I'm sure every Rabbi, minister and imam it aware of whats at stake....

No retard, the main issue is whether the catholics will vote for Obama or not. WTF is wrong with you now? If something is unconstitutional, SCOTUS will deal with it, it is their job.

Of course they will....thats why Obama backed down.....now the insurance co. might fight back if they have the balls......

government demanding and mandating WHAT they MUST cover...and it this case, the asswipe wants his shit covered for free.....you're not too sharp are you ?....

this topic seems to be a mite above your pay grade....

so...we'll see

Well, give me just one thing he did that was unconstitutional .....maybe I'll agree with you....

You and many others are missing the entire point.....its irrelevant even if not one Catholic "buys Church dogma 100%.....irrelevant.....

The point is, the government should not be trying to FORCE its dogma on any Church......if the Catholic Church refuses to support contraception,
that is their RIGHT.....
that is their BELIEF.....
that is their article of FAITH
and it is against the Constitution to force any religion to support something against their beliefs....its like forcing a Quaker to go to war.....

What you forget is that if the Catholic Church want's to go into the INSURANCE BUSINESS then they must abide by the SAME LAWS that any other BUSINESS providing the same product has to follow.

Many high-profile Catholics who have vociferously supported and defended Obama and Obamacare are turning on him. There likely are enough votes in the Congress to overturn this ruling in some way—which would have to include a large enough number of Democrats in the Senate.

Even non-Catholic Democrats and liberals who are able to recognize a violation of conscience rights when they see one are turning on him.

Rick Santorum has surged, no doubt in part because of this mandate.

A healthy portion of independents would like to see Obamacare repealed, this didn’t hurt that portion.

To sum up, things are going very badly for the president. Very badly.

What’s he to do? Overturn his own decision? He’d suffer the full Komen treatment, rubber hoses and all. He’d lose the last bastion of support he’s got—women who seem to hate that they’ve got a womb.

If he presses on he loses the Catholic vote, more evangelicals, and a larger portion of the independent vote (recognizing that there is overlap in those groups), which means he loses Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, likely Michigan, Missouri… need I go on? That’s the election. It’s a landslide.

Seriously; no.

The GOP majority House spent their first year on this. They, as well as the country lost. Most of them will not be coming back; the people are not THAT stupid.
Business knows we need ObamaCare, the small minority opposed are the health insurance companies themselves. The word is out about those greedy bastages, only partyline hacks like IceDancer and idiots continue to to oppose ObamaCare, and they bite off their noses to spite their faces.

Santorum surged by happening to be in low I.Q. states at the time. He is irrelevant.
Independents have no choices but Obama or Romney.
If you had been paying attention, you would realize by now that this will not hurt the catholic vote at all, in fact it will likely capture more of it, since catholics realize that they are at odds with their leadership's indefensible stance.

Note that I don't mention Paul, in that he is, at this time, still a wildcard.
