I don't know about "shaking in their boots" as the other poster put it but you can definitely see what I think is over-reaction on the part of some folks when a social conservative wins or comes close to winning an election. That's what you are seeing with Santorum just like you saw with Huckabee 4 years ago. I watched some of the morning shows today before leaving work just to see some of the leftist pundits look surprised and talk with disgust about Santorum being so close to winning. I don't know what they expect. Iowa is going to be more [socially] conservative than say, New York...or even New Hampshire, thus they tend to support the Huckabees and Santorums pretty well. Also, if you look at the break down of last night's vote, Mott hit the nail on the head yesterday with his urban/rural divide statement. While Romney and Paul supporters came largely from urban areas, Santorum dominated more in rural areas. If a hick like me can figure it out why do the "experts" have to act so surprised when something like last night happens?
