Nice editing. here is what I actually stated.

It is not a true democracy(rule of the majority) but it is nevertheless a democracy.

In the sense that people VOTE for their representatives! That is what democracy is all about!

If by Republic you mean that the people did not have a full say in the laws of the land, that is another thing, though still the majority have to agree whether you acknowledge this or not. If the President said today I will pass a law that incest is legal, there would be an uprising like America has never seen before!
