The 10 college majors with the lowest unemployment rates

It's always been low for accounting and engineering. With all the bank fraud, accounting demand will stay strong.

I notice Agricultural Economics is rather low... I thought those rednecks didn't get college degrees...

I always tell people that if they can major in either of these areas, to do it, because they are universally employable. Unfortunately, I suck at math, and am watching a pre-calculus lecture dvd as I make this post...

One of the odd things I noticed when I was a secondary ed major is that people say they suck at math like it is a skill you are born with.

If a student says they suck at history or english lit, they are told to study more. If they say they suck at math, people accept that as if studying would be irrelevant.

I'm not knocking you, Phanes. I sucked at math too. lol

My prospects are bleak, although I expect to keep pushing myself at independent math study for years to come. I have a complete inability to visualize and see and perceive the types of patterns, shapes, and measurements, that it drives me insane. This is accompanied by a total lack of street smarts and logic, and an exceptionally poor short-term memory. One of my hopes in studying math has, for some time, been to speed-up my thought processes, although I assume the scientific merits of this goal to be dubious at best.

Because I am well-spoken, possess an exceptional long-term memory, take an interest in history and politics, and have an irrepressible wit and pun dispensory, people around me often take me for someone who is highly intelligent. I hope they are right, because most of the abilities I use to judge intellect are the ones which elude me.

do not despair, math has a certain logic to it that can help you understand other things. once you learn that logic it gets better

just as a note on math, i was a math major and totally blew off trig because the teacher i had really sucked - i had to repeat the course, fortunately with another teacher, and did much better

also, it was not until i studied real number theory that certain aspects of math really made sense

i do not know how far you have gotten in math but let me know if i can help you with it, i only got as far as first year calculus (i went to work as a programmer and discovered my true love, computers ) before i quit college

Thanks, will do. I've never had much sense for computers, either, but at least in that case, I never took a single class after the sixth grade, until I hit college, so it stands to reason.

Shockingly to most I placed out of freshman English yet had to take remedial algebra. The Juco I started at most couldn't write a paragraph. I had straight A in math my whole life but didn't take trig in high school.

Accounting also has a high turn over rate. Not that they get fired a lot but most people I know who go into accounting burn out and move on to something else.

There's a word for people like you. Their called "stupid" ;)

Trust me....this is a mistake no one here at JPP would ever make! ;p
