CBO Finds 3.7 Million Jobs Created by Stimulus

And claiming that jobs were 'saved' is just nonsense.....fanciful imaginary pie in the sky fabrication of something that can't possible be calculated.....

There is no way to know what MIGHT have been in a hypothetical case of no or more or less stimulus....but if it floats your boat, and gives you an orgasm, have a ball.....

I'll ask you the same question that Yurt can't answer: do you know how the CBO tracks both jobs created, and jobs that were retained?

Sure.....they see the unemployment rate is 9.0 before the stimulus and 9.1 after the stimulus...and guess the stimulus had to have created or saved millions of jobs.....(if its a Democratic administration in office at the time)....

Bzzzzzzzzzt! Wrong answer. You don't even know how they figure it, and yet have no problem-o saying it's not a credible method.

Good going.

Really......if your friend jumps off a roof and breaks his leg.....and you don't jump off that roof, does that mean you saved yourself from a broken leg...????

What a perfect analogy! Apples to apples. Dizzying intellect, as always...

I didn't say that - I said other posters said that. I said you said it failed.

And since you understand, let's hear it: how does the CBO track the jobs that were created or retained? Quick now - off the top of your head...

Nada on this one, Yurtsie? I'm starting to think that when you said it's been "debated & dismissed," what you meant was that you & bravs talked about guys breaking their legs, and figured it applied to jobs created & retained, as well...

It promised to create & save jobs, and it did.

I guess you heard the "this will fix the economy and hire back everyone who was laid off" promise somewhere...

LOL. It's like you actually are capable of forgetting the promotion and passing of the bill that projected that unemployment would peak at 8.5%.

This plan failed.

They still haven't "created" even the amount of jobs they "projected" would be created in the first year alone when they were selling us that "stimulus" bill.

A report by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office shows the Recovery Act has increased the number of workers by between 1.2 million and 2.8 million

A 1.6 Million swing in the estimation? That's quite an error cushion. If this were a poll would it be plus or minus 1.6 million?

:D

Seriously though, the projections that they used to sell us that steaming pile of smells like failure projected between 3 and 4 Million jobs created at the end of the first year (not estimated sorta between 1.2 mil and 2.8 mil maybe kinda, actual created jobs). They may get almost there by September the following year kinda?

That is fail. It will continue to be fail, and now is being repackaged as the plan of the next generation?

Maybe the CBO is only a credible source when their findings favor righties.

Any plan that created millions of jobs isn't a fail. If anything w/ the 8.5%, they underestimated how many jobs would continue to be lost, which is mostly outside of the control of the stimulus itself.

It's funny that you can never restrict your critique of it to just the measure itself. You start bringing in inflation, and housing, and all kinds of other factors. And then, when that fails, you say that whoever you're speaking with is saying "the economy is great!"

You were wrong, as you were about TARP. And, as we all know by now, you will never, never admit that.

Absolute rubbish, the plan failed, it failed so badly that they are now desperate for "Son of Stimulus"... Had it not failed we would not be playing that game. Even Obama realized that he bought the economy with his "stimulus" plan when he predicted that if the economy hadn't turned in three years it would be a "one-term prospect"...

You will twist and spin, but in the end the "stimulus" failed, none of their projections came true, and even now they have to desperately peer into the "saved" portion to even get close to sorta the same amount of jobs they projected would be actually created in the first year of "Stimulus"... you know it failed, and selling the Son of Stimulus certainly doesn't underline the "success" of this steaming pile of failure.

Tell me again how 3 jobs would have been "fantabulous" and how much of a success this is. They spent an estimated trillion (with extensions, etc.) and we don't even have the number of jobs predicted for the first year even with a plus/minus 1.6 Million...

There is a new wind blowing in DC, I think it is caused by the suck in the stimulus...

this million dollar plan will work

wait, now we need another million dollar plan

i've never understood how lefties can ignore the logic of that

Still not accepting the CBO's #'s, eh?

He strikes his fists against the posts, and still insists he sees the ghosts. You can be so crazy stubborn when you're determined to be right about something...

Apparently, you cannot read.

I accepted the CBO's numbers. 1.2 to 2.8 million jobs 'could be' attributed to... I read that and find that not even half way to the projected job numbers of the first year of the "Stimulus"... I pointed out the incredible swing in that estimation, and the reality that it pretty much underlines that they have no idea how many jobs are attributable to this steaming pile of smells like fail. But one thing it shows is that the stimulus failed to meet even one of its projections and has been a failure.

It isn't me "not accepting"... It is the person who tries to give success to this evidence that underlines the failure of the stimulus, and with this and the Son of Stimulus you just want to double down on fail. I'm sorry your story didn't say what you thought it would because all you read was the title and got excited, but it doesn't.

Those numbers also reflect the stupid part time census jobs. A young friend of mine was hired for temp work by the state. She worked 4 weeks. She had to fill out paperwork when she was hired that provides information to the federal government about her being hired (a job created). After her 4 weeks she was laid off . She was called back via the temp agency to do some more temp work for the state. Once again she filled out the same forms that reports her hiring as a job created.
