Leadership is not a vague concept, Yurt. America didn't know what was going on for a full 24 hours plus. You get on the airwaves, tell everyone "we're on it." You get on the horn w/ FEMA, and say "why the fuck are there thousands of people stranded in the streets of New Orleans? Get on this NOW." You don't tell Brownie he's doing a heckuva job - you tell him he's doing the worst job imaginable until he gets those people off of the streets. And you keep reassuring America and the afflicted areas in as public a way as possible that the gov't is on it.

He didn't do any of that. 24 hours of silence, and continued vacation. It's the same philosophy that the "leaderrrr" used with "My Pet Goat." More concerned about projecting an "air of calm" than with actually getting anything done & making sure people were okay.

you're such a hack. bush did say they were on it. good lord, can you get facts right more than just a few times? again, bush kept us informed as best he could. he wasn't on the ground in NO, that was the mayor and it was HIS job to get word out. you're excusing away the local leaders responsibility and claiming the president should have been aware of every single detail of every minute. 24 hours....my goodness!!!! how dare he. of course you could never think that maybe he was gathering all the information possible.

further, you have no clue what he said to fema. you're making stuff up in order to defend your general and bland statement that he lacked leadership. which, if you actually read what you're saying, is that bush is responsible for the local government's failures. you keep saying he was on vacation, but yet you keep ignoring he was working with the governor to help with katrina. you're dishonest and your refusal to admit bush was actually doing what the federal government is supposed to do at that time (later it was inept and bush admitted that, unlike your beloved obama).
