wtf are you talking about? how can you possibly rationalize that the auto insurance industry pays out billions a year, BILLIONS, means that people are cautious when driving?

first, learn to separate the industries. are we talking about auto insurance (like I was) or health insurance?

as for health insurance, if you got rid of health insurance industry and opened up the entire medical field and eased up on all the governmental regulation, you'd get cheaper prices for all kinds of care, thus making cancer treatment affordable for all.

Only the opulent and super rich will be able to absorb the cost of an accident. Your next door neighbor who worked his whole life to provide a roof over the head of his family will be wiped out by one accident. He will be penniless, homeless and desperate. How is a young person starting out in life going to pay for an accident? Who will pay for the person he hits? If the victim requires medical care and doesn't have medical insurance and the young person can't pay what happens to the injured individual?

I find it interesting that as soon as you find yourself out of your element against someone with intelligence, you resort to some sort of insults or name calling. you also seem to lose all rational thought process, like how does one become a fascist by eliminating a corporate industry?

for one, that young person MIGHT consider being more attentive and aware in order to avoid causing an 'accident'. secondly, it will teach people that they better damn well save up some money before they start being irresponsible. Thirdly, it just might make better parents by teaching their kids about responsibility.

Eliminating insurance as a form of social engineering to punish people into being responsible and to 'teach' them a lesson, may be the most ill-conceived and ignorant idea anyone has ever forwarded on this or any other forum. It could only come from the immature mind of someone raised in an EXTREME oppressive, punitive and authoritarian run household.

or it could come from someone who was raised to respect the rights of others by being responsible for my actions. and why is it punishment to be taught to be responsible?

But that doesn't help the injured individual who can't collect for his medical treatment and there will be such cases......Oh, but wait. There is a solution. Like the one in Quebec, Canada where ANYONE injured by an automobile is automatically compensated. Driver. Passenger. Pedestrian. Cyclist. Everyone is covered. Citizen. Visitor. Alien. Alien, as in undocumented person. Not these dudes

Of course, insurance rates are considerably less for everyone as there is no fighting insurance companies when injured. Each injury is compensated for at a set amount. In the past people with the resources to hire the best lawyers got high compensation while the "little" guy had to settle for whatever the greedy insurance companies decided to pay.

So, low rates. Full coverage for everyone injured. What do you think about that idea?

But what about the victim and his medical care? If the young person doesn't have $50,000 lying around what happens to the victim? No medical care. Lost job. Can't make the mortgage.

Any charities you know of that make mortgage payments for folks?
