Barney Frank and Ron Paul Introduce Bill to End Federal Marijuana Prohibition

The Saint Richard Nixon was behind the prohibition.

Don't forget Ronbo Reagan...

President Nixon set the War on Drugs up. During the Reagan years, however it turned into the War on drugs users, on American citizens and in some cases Americans who either didn't use drugs or were involved in victimless and certainly non-violent crimes.

Weren't YOU JUST bitching and whining about others distorting someone's name and mocking them?

The better question is do they have the authority to make it illegal nationally given it is a naturally occurring plant.

The commerce clause gives them the ability to regulate anything that effects interstate commerce. The fact that it's a naturally occurring plant really doesn't make a difference. Opium is also a naturally occurring plant.

Does the federal government have the authority to legalize marijuana nationally?
Well they if they have the power to ban it nationally, one would assume they have the power to legalize it. In reality though the bill would simply end the federal laws governing marijuana. It would then be up to the states to determine their own laws for it.

No, it doesn't. It allows congress to set certain standards for commerce between states, not determine what can and cannot be sold (or even grown for personal use).

wrong. the fed has maintained sweeping authority to even stop citizens from doing things that would destroy markets, like being self sufficient.

capt is right, however, our courts have essentially given congress virtually unlimited power under the commerce clause. it has only been reigned in recently. the commerce clause was never intended to be such a sweeping power for congress to regulate and control virtually every product in the country.

SO, you admit you were mocking Barney Frank, not commending him as you claimed (LIE)...

Thanks...BTW, I was definitely deriding Reagan, the pied piper on the road to serfdom...

wow...so one cannot mock and commend at the same time? you're a disingenuous liar. you have called me a POS for making fun of frank, yet, you refuse to explain how are your insults don't make you a POS. you lie that i did not commend him for his pro marijuana stance. if you want to whine like a little girl because i made fun of his lisp and ignore that i did in fact commend him.....carry on asshole

I am not lying by proclaiming I'm commending Ronbo Reagan. The man destroyed the middle class and America. WHY would I commend him, because he had second billing to a chimpanzee in a B grade movie? Speaking of movies...LOL!

Doc: So tell me Future Boy, who's President of the United States in 1985?

Marty: Ronald Reagan.

Doc: Ronald Reagan the actor?! Then who's Vice President, Jerry Lewis?

Doc: I suppose Jane Wyman is the First Lady?

Marty: Wait Doc.

Doc: And Jack Benny is Secretary of the Treasury? Oh!

Marty: Doc, you gotta listen to me.

Doc: I've had enough practical jokes for one evening. Good night Future Boy!

What sense does that make when a bunch of NAZI's get in charge of the commerce clause?

Actually, I think Roosevelt did away with that fact by using the supreme court to establish a turning point in this subject that turned things upside down.

And now we get to enjoy the ill's of that.

You would be right if you were living before the 1930s.

Roosevelt shit on this country, the constitution, and we need to challenge everything he did.

He was just as bad as Wilson.

And that's pretty bad.

It's rare that I would do this, but I commend Barney's Frank for his position on this issue and what Ive seen in the media with him being personally interviewed.
