it's no longer about protect and serve

come on STY...you can't keep taking a few bad apples and using them to smear 95% of the rest of the good apples

It's all he has and that's why I made the decision to place him on ignore and thereby, not having to deal with his stupidity.

you're seriously deluded if you think it's ONLY 5% anymore. I've shown you dozens upon dozens upon dozens of incidents that not only showed individuals, but small groups and ENTIRE departments.

ok...what percent do you think it is? everything you've shown the entire board is less than 2% at most of the entire police force in this country

i've never sat down and worked every number, however, unless i'm posting dozens of incidents daily that concern the same group of officers, the number is certainly more than 5%.

at this point it is just our two opinions...there are approximately 70,000 police officers just in california...5% is 3500....i'm fairly sure you have not shown the board 3500 individual officers in the whole nation who are the kind of bad apples you provide examples of....and that is just california

I also include in that number associates who either conspire to cover up, conceal misconduct, or just plain keep their mouths shut. regardless, even 1% should be an extremely alarming number for people, considering the extraordinary power they wield over us. it gets even worse when large groups of cops have the 'us v. them' mentality, it makes them even more dangerous.

i'm not saying it isn't a problem, i just don't think we should lump the vast majority of law enforcement who do good in with the bad

when those 'good' officers start outing the 'bad' officers and the leadership stands right behind the 'good' officers instead of blindly defending the 'bad' ones in order to protect the city from lawsuits, then maybe you might be right.

its true they do not in all cases, but they do in many cases. you're treating it as an all or nothing. there are cops who out bad cops. you can see it in the news, i had an acquaintance who was a cop and he used the badge for a personal vendetta and he fired the next day.

You know you have it so wrong. Cops don't protect one another to save the city from lawsuits-that's just stupid twaddle. They protect one another because they have every Mfer making accusations of police brutality or wrongful something or other everyday. They have that kind of scrutiny! I think the scrutiny is wise and good- but your constant attcks are just BS! 99% of cops are good and do a good job.

your minimizing the problem infers you think the problem is too small to worry about. that any police are corrupt speaks volumes about the police in general. If they can't root out their bad apples, they get the reputation they deserve. Inept or corrupt. Take your choice

that's not what I said. I said LEADERSHIP, like police chiefs and sheriffs, defend their officers actions to save the city from lawsuits.

they also have a near absolute immunity from any wrongdoing that they perpetrate.

and I can hardly take serious any article that starts out justifying the murder of a man on his front steps with a cell phone in his hand. Most people are fucking retarded and would acquit a cop if they were caught on video killing someone.

If you had bothered to read the article you would have garnered it was NOT JUSTIFYING the actions ,merely using that instance and another to show why cops were getting bad publicity-

Chiefs and Sheriffs are not protecting cops to save from lawsuits either...

Maybe Smarter than Few failed the entrance exam for jail guards, and he's been bitter about it ever since.
