it's no longer about protect and serve

ONE crooked cop is TOO MANY

Fuck you boot lickers. The police are supposed to be public servants

Not only are they public servants, but what seems to be forgotten by most is that they are to be held to a higher standard because of their position. Even if it were only 5% or even 1% that is far too many.

t this point it is just our two opinions...there are approximately 70,000 police officers just in california...5% is 3500....i'm fairly sure you have not shown the board 3500 individual officers in the whole nation who are the kind of bad apples you provide examples of....and that is just california

your minimizing the problem infers you think the problem is too small to worry about. that any police are corrupt speaks volumes about the police in general. If they can't root out their bad apples, they get the reputation they deserve. Inept or corrupt. Take your choice

yeah....saying you shouldn't lump in the bad with alll the good is really minimizing the problem ...if you're going to engage in hyperbole and claim all the cops are bad, expect to get called on it as excessive.

it is one thing to acknowledge the problem, it is another to exaggerate the problem and smear good officers

I said if the cops are too fucking lame to root out the bad apples they deserve the reputation the get. I think they'r a bunch meatheads

you're nuts crankpot...they are rooting them out....

using your logic, if anyone in your town is a fuck up, then you deserve to be called a fuck up to because you did not root them out or fix their bad behavior

Sorry dipshit but there is a difference between a tightnit brotherhood and being citizens of the same town.

http://www2.wsav.com/news/2011/may/23/allegations-police-brutality-effingham-county-ar-1880238/

The Effingham County Sheriff's Department is not specifically commenting on some controversial video from a dashcam but the man who some witnesses say was "sucker punched” is.
translation: 'we're not saying shit because we're going to kick your ass anyway.

Police demanded Lee to get out of the car... when he didn't they bashed in two of the windows and tased him. But according to the incident report filed by Springfield Officer Corporal Bill McDonald, Wallace was cooperative, unlocking the door and trying to stop lee's attempts to drive off.

so if he was cooperative, why the punch to the head and the chokehold?

Greg Connor is a 40-year police veteran. He now runs "Use of Force" a law enforcement training and consulting company. He watched the video and noticed no such defensive posture.

“I would say that is a clear indication of excessive force.”

40 years AND runs a training and consulting company, i'd say his opinion is valid, right?

“I would put it up there in regards to the detective’s actions, as one of the most gross demonstrations of excessive force by the punch in the jaw and then just an inappropriate application of a technique an inappropriate technique,” points out Connor.

The Springfield Officer does indicate in his report that as he was escorting Mr. Lee to the back of his patrol vehicle, he noticed Mr. Wallace was resisting both Chief Wynn and Detective Scott.

This was, however, after Wallace was hit in the face and put in a choke hold.

i'd be pissed off and resisting any more brutality as well.

As for the Effingham County Deputy, no use of force report was filed; something that is required by the Sheriff's Department.

so a required report is never filed, but no accountability will be necessary.

They did release a statement to WSAV:

The incident involving Mr. Wallace was investigated by a Criminal Investigations Division Supervisor in February, 2010. The supervisor found that no inappropriate behavior or actions were taken and had the actions taken been different, the incident could have resulted in a more severe outcome. There was not a formal complaint filed with the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office by Mr. Wallace.

no, no conflict of interest in THIS investigation, is there?

so as the entire department either stays shut and/or circle the wagons on this blatant use of unnecessary force, it's only one or two bad apples. that about right bootlickers?

and here's some more of that 'higher standard' we hold police officers to. That standard that is fairly and evenly applied to us mere mundanes.........not.

A former Alameda County sheriff's deputy pleaded guilty to three felony counts of child endangerment Monday in a case where he was awaiting trial on charges that he molested three children under age 10.

San Ramon resident Michael Bareno, 43, accept a plea deal and was sentenced to one year in jail -- with credit for 199 days already served -- and five years formal probation. He is not eligible for electronic home monitoring.

every normal citizen would CERTAINLY be offered that same plea deal if they molested 3 kids under the age of 10, right?

Bareno was a deputy for the Alameda County Sheriff's Office for more than a decade before resigning a few weeks ago,

and we all know why he was allowed to resign instead of being fired right off, right? no 'protection' of his livelihood involved by ANY sheriffs office leadership, is there?

He was assigned to work at the Santa Rita Jail when he was arrested Nov. 5 and charged with 10 counts of child molestation. He had been on paid administrative leave until his resignation.
anyone else know of such a cushy job where you can be on paid vacation while facing charges of child molestation?

He was not convicted of a sex crime, and therefore is not required to register as a sex offender.

how nice. more of that fair and evenhanded justice that higher standards requires.

Taxpayers are paying nearly $5 million for a crash involving a drunken Los Angeles deputy whose sheriff's SUV slammed into a car with a driver high on methamphetamine.
lets make sure that the media gets to smear the victim in this incident.

Moran pleaded no contest to misdemeanor drunken driving and was sentenced to six months in jail, most of it served in home confinement. He's still a patrol deputy.
how is this possible? surely there is a higher standard that we hold law enforcement officers to, right? anyone else would most certainly get to serve their term in home confinement AND still get to keep their public service job, right?

that's pure nonsense. Your analogy fails.
This would be like walmart not firing employees who steal credit card numbers

wrong - your false premise is that if there are employees who steal credit numbers, then walmart is guilty for not rooting them out and walmart deserves a shitty reputation because of a few bad employees who steal credit numbers

How is that a false premise? If walmart had employees who were caught stealing CC numbers and then walmart protected them and kept them employed, walmart would deserve the reputation for hiring criminals

another false premise - that does not occur in every situation in every station across the nation. you're trying to paint the entire police force in the nation with the same brush, you simply cannot do that. once you realize this, you will see the light.

Basically it does happen all around the nation.

This pretty much says it all.

http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/lo...whistleblower-received-270-000-to-1394085.php

The former Bandera County deputy whose complaints cost Sheriff Weldon Tucker his job received $270,000 from the county's insurer to settle his whistle-blower lawsuit against Tucker and the county, records released Tuesday show.

While welcoming the cash, Scott A. Sharp said he took more satisfaction from the criminal prosecution of Tucker, who resigned May 5 under a plea deal to resolve a charge of abuse of official capacity.

No admission of wrongdoing is made in the agreement struck in February by Sharp and the Texas Association of Counties.

of course not. can't admit that the gov agents messed up.

but it gets better.

Since he was fired after nine years as a Bandera County deputy, Sharp said he's been stressed and depressed due to the legal battle and being unable to find full-time work as a peace officer.

“I've been basically blacklisted,” he said. “Nobody wants to hire an honest cop, apparently.”
