Waterboarding Used to Be a Crime

yeah, i'm not buying that either. terrorists aren't 'created'. they choose to be one.
Peoples choices are often derived from conditions that they have no control over. Just look at yourself for example. Should the need arise, you would take up arms against the government. That would essentially label you as a terrorist. And while it would be your choice in the matter, it would still be the result of situations beyond your control for the most part.

LOL You bleeding heart libtard. Are you concerned about the sensibilities of terrorists? How sweet. :)

Defend torture all you want, it is your right, but be willing to accept who and what you folks on the right are...bleeding heart 'libtards' are not fascists or authoritarians. Those traits are securely nested on the right, not the left.

but i'm also on record for totally disagreeing with what is and isn't a terrorist and hwo ONLY the government gets to label someone or some group with that tag.

By your definition everything bad is on the right; that's proof that you are retarded. Liberals want to grow government and are therefore authoritarian. If citizens rebel against it, the government forces them, which is fascism.

Conservatives don't believe in less government, they only believe liberals shouldn't be allowed to run it. Republicans raised the debt ceiling 9 times in 8 years under Bush. They GREW government, started 2 wars with no way of paying for them and the only limits they placed on government was allowing polluters to rewrite environmental laws, and banks to rewrite credit card terms to steal from the people.

<snip>

Okay, first of all... Waterboarding is NOT torture. That is an OPINION and not a FACT! It is an interrogation technique used to gather intelligence, and it is part of our US Special Forces training. It is documented and declassified FACT, that waterboarding led to information which SAVED American lives. And let me tell YOU what led to thousands more terrorists and deaths of American soldiers in Iraq.... the left wing anti-war pinheads who saw a political opportunity to continue fomenting anti-war sentiments, and over-exaggerating any aspect of anything Bush and Cheney were doing to combat the terror threat. Because YOU made it into some 'controversial' Big Deal... the terrorists were embolden, and the insurgencies in both Iraq and Afghanistan were a direct result of THAT... what YOU did!

Two examples of people punished for waterboarding. If it's not torture, what's the big deal?

"On Jan. 21, 1968, The Washington Post ran a front-page photo of a U.S. soldier supervising the waterboarding of a captured North Vietnamese soldier. The caption said the technique induced "a flooding sense of suffocation and drowning, meant to make him talk." The picture led to an Army investigation and, two months later, the court martial of the soldier."

In 1983, the Department of Justice prosecuted a Texas sheriff and three of his deputies for waterboarding prisoners to get them to confess to crimes.

The deputies were sentenced to four years in prison and Parker pleaded guilty to extortion and federal civil rights violations and received a 10-year sentence. Parker admitted that he had operated a “marijuana trap” on U.S. Highway 59, arrested suspects, and, according to court documents, subjected “prisoners to a suffocating water torture ordeal in order to coerce confessions.

“This generally included the placement of a towel over the nose and mouth of the prisoner and the pouring of water in the towel until the prisoner began to move, jerk, or otherwise indicate that he was suffocating and/or drowning,” the complaint said, which referred to the technique as “water torture.”

LOL I'm talking about conservatives, not republicans.

Because "our guys" wear uniforms and fight in accordance with international rules of war. If "our guys" didn't, then they could be legally subjected to waterboarding. Don't you know the difference between a legal soldier and an unlawful combatant?

Of course I know the difference. Maybe you can explain why dozens of detainees were released without being charged with crimes, which means they weren't unlawful combatants, they were innocent.

All the detainees were imprisoned because the U.S. suspected they were involved with Al Qaeda or the Taliban, but after seven years, only some have actually been charged with specific crimes.

Dumb Yankee says waterboarding ain't torture...he also says the military countermanded the president's imaginary "abort" order on the mission that killed OBL.

How credible is Dumb Yankee?

Why are you continuing to be retarded on this issue? War is not law enforcement. Soldiers are trained to kill people and break things. Innocent people who are in the wrong place at the wrong time might get killed or captured. They got let go eventually and sent back home. The ones still there are not "innocent", and who cares if their "crimes" are not "specific"? They are enemy combatants, and like a POW will be held until the war is over.
