Most Americans oppose the big spending cuts that many in Washington see as necessary to bring down the budget deficit, a new poll suggests, but they do support one idea for deficit reduction that President Barack Obama has pushed for years — raising taxes on the rich.

In a Quinnipiac poll released Wednesday, a robust majority of registered voters disapproved of Rep. Paul Ryan's (R-WI) proposal to privatize Medicare and cap spending on the program that provides health care assistance to the elderly.

And further, a strong majority said they supported an alternate path toward deficit reduction: raising taxes on top income earners, a proposal the GOP leadership has said is a non-starter.

Looks like the only things unifying the fragmented GOP splinter groups is a dogged determination to benefit corporations and rich people at the expense of the rest of America.

This isn't about me, and after all, you did set the tone of the debate BEFORE I could respond, oh douche-tastic one.

This is about the very real fact that, according to the poll, "a strong majority said they supported an alternate path toward deficit reduction: raising taxes on top income earners, a proposal the GOP leadership has said is a non-starter"...

...it's also about the "civil" tone YOU SET with your very first response.

And I believe the question was why would you resort to the same standard Yurtard deflection if you had something constructive to contribute?

Civility is apparently only important if you happen to lean towards the conservative side of politics. This is convenient if you are a liberal, because you can say whatever nonsense that might evoke a negative emotion when speaking of your opponent, then call them out for being "uncivil" if they even say something like, "Your policy sounds like it came from a three year old."

What total nonsense...just what I'd expect...there is just as much if not more coming from the Right that you simply ignore...why is that?

Let me ask you, what kind of response might be elicited, judging from the title of this thread started by ID:

"Democrats Announce New Assault On Small Business"

Think that might evoke a "negative emotion" in Liberals?

The only difference is that Liberals can keep a civil tongue in their heads despite whet they may feel... several Righties on these boards however, are simply incapable of responding with any civility if it's a thread topic they disagree with.

You blather, it is being used as a tool to attempt to shut down debate. When a conservative speaks it seems to either be labeled "uncivil" or "racist". Calling out those labeling and saying, "Why aren't you following your own insistence on being civil?" isn't quite the same thing.

When you start off the tone with a nonsensical attack calling people "fascist", then start crying and tell them to be "civil" when they return your tone in like manner you are a hypocrite. You can either be "civil" all the time and take the moral high ground or you can jump right into the middle of the idiocy and try to defend yourself with "They do it too!"

BTW - That is my 7 year old's favorite defense when she's caught doing something wrong. If you think being uncivil is "wrong" yet continue to be "uncivil" yourself, you can either shut up and hide your tears or deal with the hypocrite label.
