President Trump?

Would it matter to any of you if Obama's Birth Cert said "Muslim"

At this point, yes, it would! It would mean he LIED about it, and claimed to be Christian. Had he, at some point in time, explained how he was a Muslim when he was younger, and later converted to Christianity.... that would be completely different. I could understand that, and it would be fine with me. It's the fact that we've been told something entirely different all this time, and it turns out not to be the case. Why did he hide it? Why would a Muslim hide their faith? Isn't there something in the Islamic faith about deceiving your enemies into thinking you aren't a Muslim? All of these questions come into play, if Obama's birth certificate says he is Muslim, because he has denied it previously.

Is your (or your parents') religion on your BC?

I'm really curious about this as it's not done in PA.

Not to me, but which state puts the baby's religion on the BC anyway? It's not done in PA.
Of course it wouldn't matter to you if Obama is proven to be a liar....I noted that to most pinheads it wouldn't...

Robert Gibbs, Obama's communications director said Obama has never been a Muslim....and that claim was never denied by Obama.....
If he ever was a Muslim, he is also a liar for letting that claim stand as the truth...

and a statement from the Obama campaign stated that then Sen. Obama has never been a Muslim.

So a revelation to the contrary, would make him a liar....

good question...yeah dixie...i've seen examples of hawaiian b/c's and i don't recall any mention of religion. what makes you think obama's b/c mentions his religion?

I did not pose the question, I merely gave an answer to it. You'll need to ask dumbass why he thinks this might be the case, I have no idea. I do know that things have probably changed with regard to what they ask on an official form since Obama was born, and just because it isn't currently asked, doesn't mean it wasn't asked back then.

No body made that claim...it was brought up in post 35 by Jughead as a hypothetical....

ID, I agree at first glance, Trump is an appealing candidate. I am only looking at how he came out of the box... he was not asked on The View, about how he felt over the BC controversy, HE asked the question; "Why doesn't he show his birth certificate?" and then, gave a declarative statement of his position... "...and you know, I wish he would!" TRUMP did this, not The View ladies. In the O'Reilly interviews, he got into more 'social conservative' issue, like abortion and gay marriage, and in both cases, his words just struck me as kind of odd, coming from a life-long New Yorker. Not to say there are no pro-life anti-gay marriage people in New York, it's just not something you generally associate with that region of the country.

I also agree that Trump is not stupid... that's why I can't understand why he would do something so politically stupid. Why alienate the voting block you need to secure? The financially-minded fiscal conservative, libertarian type conservative... that's the vote Trump will need to win the nomination. His strong suit is finance and business, why would he not have come out of the box with both guns a-blazing on that? If he had done that, I would be inclined to think he was a serious candidate for president, because that it the one thing he could kill everyone else with. Instead, he comes out sounding like freaking Roy Moore? It's just too 'convenient' to me... something is up with that.

I think you are jumping too far ahead of who he is alienating? I think he just started talking and we will be better able to gauge things like alienation when/if he decides to run. He may have taken a calculated risk over the BC thing-that remains to be seen- it could have been a fumble for him-but I just don't think so. What did he accomplish from it? He provided two copies of his own BC and did so in a provocative way (holding one back)- both the standard legal issue from a hospital and one from the county registrar...Obama's on the other hand is one typically given for a birth that takes place either at home or overseas...and stored electronically. It has none of the pertinent information regarding hospital and attending physician- Trump was clever in how he touched on this subject imo because he stated "what's on his actual BC that he does not want people to see?" It's a great way to make people question it in a more liberal way...That said, I think, he should now move on from the subject.

I am asking, why would he begin with this subject? And why would the bulk of what he has said so far, been centered around purely social conservative hot-button issues? Granted, social conservatives do comprise a massive voting block, but most of those voters are trying to decide between Palin and Huckabee. Trump's "TRUMP card" ..lol.. is his business sense, his knowledge in finance, why isn't he playing to the potential Romney voter, who would not vote for a social conservative like Palin or Huckabee? That would make sense to me, from a political perspective... this doesn't make sense. This smacks of and elitist ploy to siphon votes away from a TEA Party movement, by introducing a populist who says the right things. In my opinion, he has been trying too hard to appeal to the wrong people. And it is precisely because I don't think he is stupid, that I have to wonder what is really going on here, because what he has done so far, doesn't seem right for him, if he is serious.

I would not vote Huckabee-as to Palin? I have no problem voting for her if she becomes "the" candidate-but I don't think she'll make it through the primaries. You keep saying all he has had to say centered on social conservative issues>>>what do you think about what he's had to say on OPEC; China: and the wars in the ME? He has not been exhaustive because as he stated he has not made up his mind to run-like Romney and others, he is sticking the proverbial toe in the water Dix. He led with something provocative to get his name in then news and guess what? For a weeks worth of news cycle he was in the top 5 discussions-that's HUGE. I am thinking that's why he "led" with it-but I can't say for certain that it is. I don't think you are being accurate with regards to his making social conservative issues the "bulk" of his commentary? He gave all of a couple minute answers to the question of abortion and gay marriage-perhaps the unedited interview on O'Reilly gives more?-I have not watched it- it is available for free this weekend I am told.

His answers on OPEC, China and the ME are also very 'in-tune' with the more hawkish view associated with the far right.... again, the TEA Party voters! He didn't really give any details of what he would do, it was all pretty generic and somewhat rhetorical... you're going to get tough with China? What does that mean? It sounds good if you are a TEA Party voter who can't decide between Palin or Huckabee. As I said, he seems to be intentionally pandering to a specific core audience, and it's not the core audience you'd think a man with his experience would pander to. That's why it seems so odd to me, he has no political reason to align himself with the birthers, it doesn't do him a bit of good in trying to actually WIN the GOP nomination. That's why I don't understand him doing this, unless there is another explanation.

Is the dumbass you are refering to P.T. Trump? He is the one who suggested that might be why the B.C. is not released.

I belive its a foregone conclusing that Palin is not running, or that if she does she will never be anything more than a 2nd tier canidate. Huckabee has no chance anwhere but the south. Thus far I am fairly sure Rommney will be the canidate.

He said what he'd do--he'd threaten them with tariffs- knowing as he put it that they'd get to the table. As to the ME he also said what he'd do-New policy. Pay us back for our help or we stop training and supporting you- Pakistan? Give us Bin Laden or we cut off the billions. Basically that's as much if not more then any other candidate is willing to say or do...at least at this point. He does not seem the pandering type to me- You mean the other explanation as you believe it to be...not that his first volley got him right where he wants to be---talked about. So if he is aligned with the Romney camp are you saying that he's gonna spend millions cuz he likes Romney? That he is gonna let himself get attacked, likely quite ruthlessly, cuz he likes Romney? That just does not sound like Trump to me.

Trump doesn't really care if he gets attacked or what people think of him. He has no political capital to lose because he isn't a politician. I do think he, (or more likely, the GOP establishment), is willing to spend millions to keep Sarah Palin or Mike Huckabee off the ticket in 2012. He is doing nothing but appealing to the voters who would likely vote for Palin or Huckabee, not the more moderate libertarian type conservative, who might vote for Romney, and his strong suit is the same as Romney's. That is peculiar to me, but I have said that a few times already. I could see Trump running a third party candidacy... I could see Trump running as a fiscal conservative... I don't understand Trump running as a populist social conservative, it just doesn't make good political sense to me.

I am fairly sure it going to be Romney, he is the best chance the R's have at winning. He would be a reasonable president.

Jarhead's ringing endorsement of Romney should be all anyone needs to hear to know he isn't the best candidate for conservatives, and shouldn't garner their vote.
