Are whites racially oppressed?

I just don't think that the kind of discriminations against whites, which I agree do exist, fit the definition of racial oppression- My only reason for piping in is that I don't think you need to be married to the term "oppression" to make your point-which again, I agree is valid...

Further I submit that racial oppression has not existed against blacks since implementing anti discrimination policies, including affirmative action-This is not to say that discrimination does not take place, but to note that as a national policy one cannot be discriminated against based on race. After 40+ years it is likewise evident that not only is there no longer a need for affirmative action policy-but that it actually serves as a conduit for reverse discrimination.

Wrong again sweets. Whites are racially oppressed. And whites arent the most powerful race. It's gods chosen people of course. Power is not about numbers.

No. That was in reference to the real estate industry, which you said is lilly white. I conjectured the discrimination against whites was in the back office. You didn't object to that.
I'm saying one doesn't rise to ranks of upper management from the back office. I'm asking what jobs (and I used the real estate industry specifically) that lead to upper managment are whites not being given?

People do rise to upper ranks from the back office, or from the lower ranks of the front office. And whites are denied entry into all these areas based on the racial quotas of various hr diversity programs, which we all agree exist.

This discussion is not limited by the false limits you want to put on it. Whites are racially oppressed throughout our society. Because there are some "rich whites" doesnt change this fact. SOme slaves escaped slavery too, but it was still a moral blight on humanity, just like the current oppression of white individuals.

What a typical asinine comment coming from you. If discrimination is happening from our own government whether it is intentionally or unintentionally it is a BIG FUCKING DEAL! Affirmative Action policy HAS outlived its usefulness. There is evidence that it is in fact causing discrimination against white males. Just because you personally have not been affected does not mean it does not happen.

I'm sorry, but this couldn't be further from the truth. AA is hardly based on the notion that "it serves to cause reduced expectations for minorities". That you or anyone else thinks that Blacks (or women, or other minorities, or persons with a physical disability, or Veterans - ALL protected classes under AA) are getting jobs because the government is threatening companies shows your lack of familiarity with Affirmative Action in the real world. AA is based on the notion of making sure that companies aren't NOT hiring/promoting members of these protected classes simply on the basis of their race. There is a HUGE difference between being singled out and rejected SOLELY because of your race and having a program that encourages companies to be aware of their own demographics and to make sure that they are making a 'good faith effort' to not exclude anyone based solely upon one category. Basically, without AA, white men would likely have continued to hire other white men (that's the premise behind the original legislation/action), thus AA was born.

I think people would greatly benefit from reading up on AA before jumping to conclusions.

So, clearly there is still a problem with racism in the US. So if we get rid of AA, then what is the alternative? Should it be by simply getting rid of it and pretending that everything is fine.

I'm sure everyone would love to hear your suggestions.
