Not my fault that Yurtsie had to come riding to Dixie's rescue with a continuation of his week-long meltdown...

true... but you two go at it in every fucking thread... its one thing if you do so about the topic. It is quite another to see you two giving each other the reach around on every thread.

The idea that the promotion of democracy abroad is the "Bush Doctrine" is hilarious. The promotion of democracy has been a guiding principle of our foreign policy since the end of the Cold War, and prior to that it was part of the basic guiding principle of containing communism.

Fair enough (except for the superfluous gay allusions, not that there's anything wrong with that).
I shall endeavor to let him rant in a vacuum, and refrain from responding going forward. No guarantees, but I'll give it the ol' college try...
you might have some moral authority for this IF you called him when i ignore him...i ignored the guy for a couple of weeks (about a week ago) and it still didn't stop, everyday it was an attack....so now i'm trying to give it back in order to help him understand how stupid he looks and you finally notice....

fair enough... though you don't have to give up responding to him at all. Just try to stick to the topic![]()
i fail to see how the left can definitely claim that the bush is not in any way responsible for the spread of democracy. iraq has had democracy for a few years now, it is entirely probable that many egyptians were motivated by this. maybe family members or friends from iraq have talked with them.
'm not saying bush is responsible, but to dismiss it out of hand is pure nonsense.
Democracy? I thought Middle Eastern people didn't want Democracy, and couldn't handle it anyway? I thought people in that part of the world believed in totalitarian rulers, not elected leaders? When Bush talked of planting Democracy in the ME, you laughed and said he was niave to think this possible. Now, you believe we should promote and support the Bush Doctrine? When did you change your mind on this?
The fact of the matter is that Bush supported Mubarack and congratulated him on a victory in a rigged election in 2005. Bush had little to no interest in spreading democracy in Egypt because Egypt was already a friendly government under Mubarack. Bush's democratization policies applied only where non-friendly governments were in power, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon and the like. It seems to me that Bush's policies in Egypt were probably more influential on Egypt than Bush's policies in Iraq. And his policies in Egypt didn't have shit to do with democracy promotion.
Moreover, I don't see how claiming it is "entirely probable" that Egyptians were motivated by the Iraqi "democracy" is any less ridiculous than saying Bush
Read more on Newsmax.com: CIA Chief Hayden: Mubarak Criticized Bush on FreedomBush said, “As recent history has shown, we cannot turn a blind eye to oppression just because the oppression is not in our own backyard. No longer should we think tyranny is benign because it is temporarily convenient. Tyranny is never benign to its victims, and our great democracies should oppose tyranny wherever it is found.”
Me, no I never said amy such thing. You fail to listen, it's why your ideas are so fucked up. You are a contemptible liar!
The discussing mess in Iraq more likely detered the people of Egypt than encouraged them. They did this despite the embarrassment in Iraq.
I'm assuming you meant disgusting? Or did you mean people in Egypt were discussing the difficulties or creating a democracy after spending so much time under a dictator and that it might not be worth the stuggle?
