Sarah Palin

I would have known better than to use the term, and Im not ever considering a run for any political office.

She is simply unknoledgable about the world.

Use the term? Hell, you couldn't have SPELLED the term, much less used it!

You people beat all I've ever seen... I bet the overwhelming majority of pinhead liberals had never heard the term before Sarah Palin used it!

And this whole "offensive to Jews" thing... let me ask you, if I complained because someone had referred to me as a "nigger" ....would THAT be offensive to black people? What was offensive, was the media issuing a 'blood libel' on Sarah Palin, she called them on it, nailed their asses with it, was 110% accurate with her description of it, and the idiot left wants to try and spin it to their advantage.

The term may be offensive to many, but when she did not even know the meaning how could you take offence.

The point is that she did not even know the meaning.

How do you fucking know if she knew the meaning or not? Contextually speaking it fit-

He means, she didn't know the newly-defined liberal meaning, concocted after she said it, which applies the middle ages definition, that no one else was even aware of. She's such an idiot, right?

No one but a liberal idiot would think Sarah was refering to the blood of Christian children that was being used in sacrifices. It was hyperbolic metaphor-nothing more or less.

I dont use terms I dont know. I especally would not if I were in politics.

Sure you do! You use terms you don't know all the damn time! You keep yammering about Sarah Palin's map which used "cross hairs" ...but they were surveyor marks, commonly used by geological mappers to denote places of interest. Why would someone want to put gun sight cross hairs on a map? Did they want someone to shoot at the map? How would shooting at a map possibly be construed as a call for assassination on a person?

Let's follow your fucked up liberal logic here, and presume this nutsack just comes right out and says, he did this because he saw Sarah Palin's map with the "cross hairs" and that motivated him to do this! Okay... would that mean, if the moron said it was the red, white, and blue bunting and balloons, we need to ban those across America to "prevent" such a tragedy happening again? Of course not! That would be absurd and ridiculous, wouldn't it? EVEN IF this piece of garbage WAS motivated by what you claim, it doesn't make sense that we, as a society, jump to eliminate whatever he says it was! Can you not comprehend that in your empty little pinhead? A crazy mentally disturbed person, did something heinous and reprehensible, and there is no rationale for WHY he did it! There is nothing to blame for it, crazy people do crazy things, and they always will! It's sad, it's unfortunate, but there isn't anything WE could have done to prevent it. Censoring free speech or further restricting gun ownership, is not going to prevent crazies from being crazy in the future, it's just a fact of life we have to accept.

You are already censored, Dixie. You do not have the same freedoms as you once had. AND IT IS YOUR (Pl) FAULT.
The fact that the killer was unhinged and that Plain had cross hairs on a map may or may not be connected. You will never know.
And... surveyors marks????? You have to be joking .... or bloody desperate. Plain wouldn't know how to SPELL surveyor, let alone know what one was.
Poor attempt at spin, I'm afraid.
Take the shame, sunbeam. Plain is an ignorant, immature woman who would not have made local news in any other society and certainly would not be elevated to a political deity as she is with you people.

You're entitled to your pinhead opinion. The symbol used on her map, was a commonly used geological symbol, and it has been used as such for decades. There is no rational reason it would have been a gun sight cross hair, as I explained... what is that supposed to mean? Shoot at the map, maybe? So we have my logical explanation and interpretation, that it was a common map symbol used on a map to denote places of interest... and we have your pinhead interpretation, that it was cross hairs and that somehow caused Loughner to act out. I'll let the general public decide who is ignorant.

Oh dear. Let me try to explain. The woman is famous for one thing only, her love of GUNS not bloody theodolites! If you wish to split hairs (!) the cross hairs the silly woman used, are more commonly seen in those 'shoot 'em up' computer games or on maps, but once again, Plain is not well known for her surveying or her map reading prowess (I can see Russia etc.)
She used the symbol of cross hairs as a METAPHOR! I am staggered that you need that explaining. It was a METAPHOR. It was there to suggest to her brain dead followers that the people she named should be targeted... I'm sure she did not mean 'shot', but the woman is just too stupid to realise the possibilities of misunderstanding - accidental or deliberate - that exist in a society like yours where the inmates are trying to take over the asylum.
Be honest with yourself, Dixie. For once in your life be honest with yourself.
Plain screwed up and all this ridiculous and poorly executed spinning has just made matters worse.

...""We never ever, ever intended it to be gun sights...It's a surveyor's symbol"

Rebecca Mansour, an aide to former Alaska governor Sarah Palin..."

...this seems like an after-the-fact excuse.

Would Sarah Palin, known for her love of guns, really instruct an advertising agency to place "surveyor symbols" on her map of political targets?

On her March 23 Facebook posting that accompanied the map, Palin wrote: "We'll aim for these races and many others. This is just the first salvo in a fight to elect people across the nation who will bring common sense to Washington."

Certainly, Palin raised no public objection when people, including Giffords, at the time said they thought the map showed gun sights...

...Finally, here's what Palin herself tweeted on Nov. 4 when the election results came in and all but two of those lawmakers on her list had either quit or been defeated:

"Remember months ago "bullseye" icon used 2 target the 20 Obamacare-lovin' incumbent seats? We won 18 out of 20 (90% success rate;T'aint bad)"

That's odd, I just pulled up her Wikipedia page, and it doesn't even mention her love of guns. It says she is famous for being McCain's running mate in 2008, for being the first female VP candidate of the Republican party, for being Governor of Alaska, for being an accomplished author, for being mayor of Wasilla, for heading the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission.... not a word about her being famous for loving guns!! You'd think a comprehensive biography would include such information... odd.

If you wish to split hairs (!) the cross hairs the silly woman used, are more commonly seen in those 'shoot 'em up' computer games or on maps, but once again, Plain is not well known for her surveying or her map reading prowess (I can see Russia etc.)

Well, maybe we should ban 'shoot em up' computer games! I wouldn't want some kid to see those, and go mow down a bunch of dignitaries! The symbols used, are geological survey symbols, commonly used all the time on maps to denote places of interest, Palin used them on a map, to denote places of interest. Is that some kind of 'illogical conclusion' in your mind?

As for "I can see Russia from my back yard." That is not a quote from Palin, that is a quote from comedienne, Tina Fey, spoofing Sarah Palin. I would have though someone with a superior British brain, would have known that.

She used the symbol of cross hairs as a METAPHOR! I am staggered that you need that explaining. It was a METAPHOR. It was there to suggest to her brain dead followers that the people she named should be targeted...

No, that's a baseless and irrational speculation, heaped on top of even more baseless and irrational speculation. Now you are trekking off into loony-tunes land, attempting to psychoanalyze what Palin's thoughts and motivations were, and her metaphoric intentions... are you a doctor? Have you examined Palin? How can you possibly claim to know what she thought, or what she metaphorically intended?

I'm sure she did not mean 'shot', but the woman is just too stupid to realise the possibilities of misunderstanding - accidental or deliberate - that exist in a society like yours where the inmates are trying to take over the asylum.

I'm sure she didn't mean "shot" either... she didn't even mean "cross hair" ...she used a commonly used geological marking, found in thousands and thousands of maps of all different kinds across the globe... She could have used a star... the insane man could have had a thing about stars... what difference does any of this make? He didn't go on a shooting rampage because Sarah Palin used a geological marking on a fucking map! MORON!

Be honest with yourself, Dixie. For once in your life be honest with yourself.
Plain screwed up and all this ridiculous and poorly executed spinning has just made matters worse.

Fuck you... be honest with YOURSELF, pinhead! You, and the liberal left, saw an opportunity to bash Sarah Palin, and once again, you took it! Problem is, this time, you stepped way over the bounds of decency and America is responding to that. You're over in the UK, so you aren't aware of how this is playing here... by next weekend, you won't be able to find a pinhead anywhere, who is even mentioning this anymore, because public sentiment is not on your side, this isn't helping your cause one bit.

Anyway, this is what somebody who would actually have a horse in the race had to say about it:

"The term “blood libel” has taken on a broad metaphorical meaning in public discourse. Although its historical origins were in theologically based false accusations against the Jews and the Jewish People, its current usage is far broader. I myself have used it to describe false accusations against the State of Israel by the Goldstone Report. There is nothing improper and certainly nothing anti-Semitic in Sarah Palin using the term to characterize what she reasonably believes are false accusations that her words or images may have caused a mentally disturbed individual to kill and maim. The fact that two of the victims are Jewish is utterly irrelevant to the propriety of using this widely used term."

I'd bet he found it ironic to be defending Sarah.

There is little point in continuing this, Dixie. If you spin any more you will have to change your name to Dizzy.

I think the most likely event is that she used a thesaurus and it was one of the terms listed.

That's possible. As I said, I have heard the term used before, but never knew the background and history of it... and I think that is probably common for a good many phrases we commonly use. It's silly to presume she meant some definition from the middle ages, when the term appropriately fit what the MSM was doing to her with this tragedy. I thought the term nailed it precisely, even after I learned the historic meaning!

I still don't understand why pinheads are claiming what she said is offensive to Jews. If anything, Jews should be able to relate to what she was saying, not be offended. She was the person being persecuted, and the MSM was manufacturing a 'blood libel' on her... I can see where the MSM would be offended by that, not Jews.
