its a near ancient reference and no sane person could think palin is referring to its OLD meaning....the term hasn't been used in that context in hundreds of years

these people used blood to libel palin, our language is constantly adapting, and i see now problem with it and what jew alive today could even be offended by it?
 
I think I figured out how Yurt reads things. Someone might say something like the following:

"The political atmosphere in this country is toxic right now. The rhetoric is truly out of hand, and politicians should lead by example to tone things down. I mean, why does Palin have to use crosshairs on that map?"

But what he reads goes something like this:

"Palin made this guy shoot the victims!"
 
and once again, onceler dishonestly portrays what the person said in order try and score a point against me.....

bfgrn is saying MUCH more than onceler claims, and notice he leaves all that out.... i wonder why?

why is bfgrn so concerned about what palin meant? why does he repeatedly say "consequences" when referring to her words/ad?

if he isn't blaming her, there is no reason in the world to question what she meant, the only reason to question is because he is looking for someone to say -- yep, palin was literal, she really wanted people to shoot her. if he didn't believe that, then the question makes no sense.

I said last year when she did it, and I say it now. Sarah Palin placing gun sights on Democrats is wrong. It is irresponsible and dangerous.

There have been two different positions going. First, whether inflammatory rhetoric can induce someone to commit violence. Second, whether Palin's rhetoric in particular induced Loughner to commit violence.

The righties here are conflating the two. You, I and others have repeatedly stated we don't blame Palin, and just as often they insist that we do.

Damn, if I had that kind of mind-reading ability I'd be a better player on the werewolf thread.
 
The righties have not been conflating the two-The very fact that the lefties found need to bring up Palin's map immediately following the shooting shows intent. The very fact that the lefties didn't bring up a democrats imagery and rhetoric likewise proves the intent.

The fact of the matter is some lefties used this tragedy as a wedge to create MORE hostility for political reasons-making them morally repugnant~

Palin was and is absolutely right in defending herself against the hate, lies, and innuendo spewed by Kurtz and the rest of you pinheaded assholes that are determined to spread the Palin hate and rekindle the flames that separate us...

She owes no one an apology, especially the haters that wanted Bush assassinated, Beck to kill himself or Cheney to have a fatal heart attack....you fuckin' hypocrites know who you are.....it is you, that fan these flames and throw the kerosene on the fire....

The murdering pinhead from Tucson had a problem with Giffords long before Palin ever hit the national scene, but that fact won't slow you assholes down one bit....your aim is to fan the Palin hate until you either have her killed in retaliation for your false accusations or at least damage her image beyond any redemption.

Nice right wing Faux spin...

There is no map with Republicans placed in gun sights. Just Sarah's map with Democrats placed in gun sights.

There is SOME reason to bring up Palin's map...one of the people she targeted was shot in the fucking head!

I don't say Palin is responsible, that is not fair. But I can say her map is irresponsible and dangerous, just like I did last year when she first put it on her website, and...EVEN IF there were a map with Republicans placed in gun sights, it would not make Sarah's map any less wrong, would it? Remember the term PERSONAL responsibility. That means Sarah stands alone with HER map, irregardless of what other people do or don't do.

The shooter hasn't said anything to police. If he does come out and finger Palin's map, I will bet my bottom dollar you will find some reason to excuse Sarah, because she is the victim here.

One more thing, there is someone who weighed in on this last year when I first criticized Palin for her map. She can't speak right now because she has an endotracheal tube in her neck...

The media is brutal on her - moreso than anyone in that position I can remember.

However, she does absolutely nothing to help her cause. You don't want to necessarily suck up to the media, but she's a public figure w/ public ambitions, and she has made it worse for herself, imo. She has basically declared war on the media...
