Things are bad. What's the solution?

No. Labor costs are also a main factor. And gutting the government won't change that. While corporations may hate taxes and regulation, eliminating them won't really solve the problem.

Ahh... Witness the stunning transformation of the anarchist butterfly, from his cocoon of extremist rhetoric, into a full fledged Democrat Liberal right before our very eyes!

Label me whatever you want. Gutting the government won't stop corporations from seeking cheaper labor overseas. That's just a fact. Try dealing with it.

The title of the thread is "Things are bad. What is the solution?", not "Things are bad, what do neocons always want in all situations, regardless of their impact on society?"

We dont need unions to maintain the middle class. We just need to keep slaves out of the labor pool. We should do this on a moral basis as well as an economic one.

If we implemented your ideas, the unions would become stronger. But then, the unions support your viewpoints. I think you look excellent in your Democrat dress.. it fits you perfectly!

Most people aren't in unions, don't think about unions. All american workers would benefit from reasonable protectionism without unions.

The unions might also think 2+2=4, does that mean math is socialism?

The labor movement and unions played a huge role creating the robust middle class that blossomed from the New Deal to the Great Society. It is not a just a coincidence that middle class problems began when union busting began.

The Republican party went from this:

"Labor is the United States. The men and women, who with their minds, their hearts and hands, create the wealth that is shared in this country—they are America."
President Dwight D. Eisenhower

To THIS!

"We're going to crush labor as a political entity"
Grover Norquist - Republican economic guru

But all american laborers will benefit from protectionist measures. Wouldn't you agree?

That's the going international wage slave rate. So even in your scenario, citizens still won't be employable.
If that's all they can produce then that's what they are worth, but Americans know how to use tools and technology and are more productive than their counterparts. Stop being a moron.

I'm not for protectionism, because there is little left to protect. I'm for developing new technologies and new industries that can't be outsourced.

We are already behind China and other countries in green energy development. We better get on our horse, or face moving from dependence on the Middle East for oil to dependence on China for green energy.

Look dixie, libtard unions aren't for protectionism like you thought.

What can't be outsourced?

Green technology isn't immune from outsourcing. Please explain your irrational belief.

That's why we should stop believing that globalization is good.

LMFAO... You can't go by what one idiot moron pinhead says today... that could change tomorrow if The One says he supports protectionist policies! Hell, it could change with his very next sentence, these people have no problem completely contradicting themselves in the same breath!

What you are advocating... stop trading with China... would strengthen the unions in America. And while most "jobs" aren't unionized, most production and manufacturing jobs, certainly ARE!

It would benefit all american workers. Dont hate on american workers just because some of them are unionized. That's pretty stupid.

I would be happy with any protectionism, just as you would be happy with tariffs, and taxes which penalize outsourcing, and are also, therefore, a protectionist.
